Hello! This edition of the Square Peg Promotions arts calendar includes
music concerts, theatre, dance, written and spoken word gatherings, and
visual arts events happening in Stark County and several surrounding =
areas
during the Stark Arts Festival, April 13th to 22nd.

=20

A Note from the Editor:

Because there are even more arts-friendly events than usual in Stark =
County
in celebration of the Arts Festival, it is likely that this edition of =
the
calendar is missing several worthy & wonderful arts events that are =
being
presented to us in conjunction with the Stark Arts Festival! Conversely, =
the
board members of Stark Arts Coming Together are still learning daily of =
more
events happening during the Stark Arts Festival, but the deadline for
printing brochures has already come and gone, so the colorful and
beautifully printed brochures (Thank you, Pinnacle Press!) are also =
missing
some great events.

Please check out the events in this edition of the Square Peg =
newsletter,
=93and=94 also check out the =93Calendar=94 and =93Finale=94 tabs at the =
festival
website: www.starkartsfestival.com <http://www.starkartsfestival.com/> . =

All that to say this...the omission of any organization or event from =
either
the Festival brochures or this edition of the Square Peg Promotions arts
calendar is =93not=94 an indication of any lack of support or =
endorsement
(personally, professionally, or organizationally). We celebrate the arts =
in
ALL its many forms and with ALL the varied missions and personalities of
those in our midst who CREATE!

Come celebrate with us, won=92t you?!

Chris Hillman and Herb Pedersen played together in the Desert Rose Band =
in
the 1980s and cranked out a string of mainstream country hits. The =
former,
of course, was a key figure in the Byrds and the Flying Burrito =
Brothers.
Here, the two country-rock pioneers explore the back roads of American =
folk
with a collection of songs that reflect the depth and vitality of their
skills. Beneath the backdrop of soaring vocal harmonies (Pedersen's =
tenor
has graced albums by Vince Gill, Johnny Rivers and Linda Rondstadt),
instrumental sides of the two players emerge. Hillman's excellent guitar =
and
mandolin stylings blend beautifully with the hillbilly flavors provided =
by
Pedersen's fiery banjo picking as the two roam through everything from
honky-tonk shuffles and dance-hall waltzes to slammin' road house =
grooves
that sound like the Burrito Bros. The old amigos recently connected =
again to
record Way Out West (Back Porch), a rollicking collection of
California-style country and Appalachian breakdowns.

Canton Museum of Art, 1001 Market Avenue N., downtown Canton, OH
330-453-7666

The Colorful sculptures of fruit trees, books and human forms that =
address
the issues of gender, ancestry and memory are the works of artists John =
and
Claire Murray-Adams. Working with wood, plaster, found objects and
encaustic paint, John=92s work has been seen in group shows around =
Northeast
Ohio, including the Cleveland Sculpture Center. Claire, an Associate
Professor of Art and Chair of the Visual Art Department at Malone =
College,
started in art quilts, then added paint and collage to the surface =
fabrics.
She soon discovered that the construction and sculpture of found objects =
and
encaustic paints gave her the depth she wanted to convey. The Canton =
Museum
of Art will present their two-person exhibit in the Milligan Gallery. =
This
exhibit runs through July 22. www.cantonart.org =
