Sharon and Chuck both make valid points (although
Chuck's may have been done with a little more...
venom).  I have been asked to smoke onstage and got
the director to settle for the stage cigarettes where
the performer actually blows through it to produce the
smoke.  My reason for that is I have asthma and
cigarette smoke can be one of my triggers.  We used
one recently for the character of Jeannette in "The
Full Monty" at CVLT and it played very well.  So there
are other options Mr. Brown.  I personally would
prefer to NOT have an asthma attack while performing
in a stage production.
