Datz'DNation: Phunk Dance Company is holding auditions for the Hottest Hip Hop Dance Company around! This non-profit organization gives the best dancers opportunities to learn from top choreographers, perform at numerous venues, and to entertain the community. We have opened for Little Richard, Paul Wall, performed at Playhouse Square, the IX Center, John S. Knight Center, Kidsfest, Taste of Cleveland, Ingenuity, Winterfest Lighting of the Square Celebration, First Night Akron, Taped for BET, and much more. Datz'DNation: Phunk Dance Company has a busy summer planned, now is your chance to become one of our talented dancers!
THIS WILL BE YOUR ONLY CHANCE TO AUDITION FOR THIS SEASON!!!
When?
APRIL 22, 2007
Looking for male and female dancers in the age groups below:
Ages 8-12 - Auditions are at 3pm (Arrive by 2:30pm to fill out application)
Ages 13-17 - Auditions are at 4pm (Arrive by 3:30pm to fill out application)
Ages 18 + Up - Auditions are at 6pm (Arrive by 5:30 to fill out application)
AUDITIONS ARE FREE!
Auditions will be held at our home studio:
ONE MORE STEP DANCE STUDIO
4431 Mayfield Road, South Euclid, OH (near Green Road.)
Located on the 2nd Floor.
Please park at the Giant Eagle Parking Lot.
What to bring?
Water and a resume/photo if you have one.
What to wear?
Hip Hop Clothes - show your style but dress appropriately for dancing, no short shorts or skirts!
Tennis Shoes, no jazz sneakers or heals for girls or boots for guys or girls.
Requirements?
While we don't require intense dance training to audition, we encourage classes in hip hop and jazz. All other types of dance are also great. We don't require that you attend the workshop on April 21st but we HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you attend the appropriate workshop for your age group because it will give us a chance to see you and for you to understand what kind of choreography you will see at auditions.
How do the auditions work?
Step 1: All dancers will learn a short routine. It will be fast-paced and you are asked to learn it quickly, you have less than 30 minutes to learn it.
Step 2: Dancers will have to perform that routine alone in front of our judges.
Step 3: If the judges feel that you should get a callback, you will get a callback slip. If you receive a callback slip, you will need to stay. If you don't receive a callback slip, you are free to leave.
Step 4: For Callbacks, you will be asked to freestyle for a short amount of time to show your current dance skills and musicality and be interviewed to see if you will be a good fit for our organization.
Step 5: If we decide to invite you into the dance company, phone calls will be made by April 29th. A list of the dancers will be posted on our myspace page as well.
