Actors'  Summit Presents  =20
QUILTERS=20
Actors=E2=80=99 Summit Theater announces the opening of QUILTERS, a musical=
 tribute=20
to the women who helped settle the American West. The play will have a=20
preview performance on April 26, and will play through May 13 at Actors=E2=
=80=99 Summit=20
Theater in downtown Hudson. The play is performed Thursday, Friday, & Satur=
day=20
at 8 PM and Sundays at 2PM. (The May 6th performance is sold out.)=20
The Play =20
Based on the diaries of a number of women, the play presents the story of a=
=20
pioneer woman and her five daughters, QUILTERS blends a series of=20
interrelated scenes into a rich mosaic which captures the sweep and beauty,=
 the terror=20
and joy, the harsh challenge and abiding rewards of frontier life.=20
Illuminating stories contained in various patches or "blocks" with music, d=
ance and=20
drama, the action depicts the lot of women on the frontier: girlhood, marri=
age,=20
childbirth, spinsterhood, twisters, fire, illness and death. But, with this=
,=20
there is also love, warmth, rich and lively humor and the moving spectacle=20=
of=20
simple human dignity and steadfastness in the face of adversity. In the end=
,=20
when the various patches are assembled into one glorious, brilliantly=20
colorful quilt, the effect is both breathtaking and magical=E2=80=94and a t=
heatrical=20
masterstroke which will linger in the mind and memory long after the house=20=
lights=20
have dimmed. =20
