The Broadview Heights Spotlights Community Theater will be holding open
auditions for its upcoming youth production, The Truth About Cinderella.
The Spotlights are seeking junior-high and high-school performers for =
all
roles; approximately 15 females and 10 males will be cast.  Auditions =
will
be held Tuesday, May 15 and Wednesday, May 16 at 7PM at the Broadview
Heights Cultural Arts Building, located on the Broadview Center property
(9543 Broadview Road =96 =BD mile South of Route 82, behind the Police
Department).  Auditioners should dress for movement.  Interested actors
should also be prepared to sing a musical theater song of their choice
(please bring sheet music in the appropriate key).  An accompanist will =
be
provided; no a capella or taped music, please.  Readings from the script
will be provided.  The show=92s director is Frank Lucas; music director, =
Gail
Wirick.  Performance dates are Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and =
Sundays,
July 19-29.

The Truth About Cinderella is a fun, comedic musical that takes a turn =
on
the classic tale.  Poor Cinderella?  Not this time!  In The Truth,
Cinderella=92s poor stepmother and stepsisters sweetly, desperately try =
to
dray Cinderella away from her beloved brooms and brushes to the ball.  =
Not
one, but two Godmothers play against one another and supply plenty of =
=93good
fairy=94 versus =93bad fairy=94 stabs at Cinderella=92s conscience.  And =
the King
and Queen are at odds over whether they will marry off their son, the
handsome (but mute) Prince Charming.  Of course everyone knows how the =
story
ends=85 but do they really know?  Audiences will go away laughing at The
Truth.  Music by Charles Strouse; lyrics by David Rogers.  Book by June
Walker Rogers.
