The Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School Drama Club
will soon be performing the comedy theatre event “A
Festival of Shorts,” a unique series of six one-act
plays by well-known playwright David Ives. Audience
members are sure to experience a whirlwind filled with
thought-provoking laughter and mayhem!

Mark your calendars for three days: April 27th and
28th (each show beginning at 8:00 p.m.) and April 29th
(beginning at 2:00 p.m.). Doors will open roughly 30
minutes prior to each performance.

Pre-sale admission to this event is $5 per person.
Advanced tickets can be purchased by contacting Matt
Orgovan at (216) 481-8414 ext. 235.

Admission is $6 per person at the door. Seating is
limited and all tickets will be sold on a first come,
first serve basis.

The April 28th event will also feature a dinner and
dessert theatre option for interested parties.
Tickets for that portion of the event, which will be
catered by Mark’s Time Out Grille (Shoregate), are $15
per person. The dinner-dessert theatre option is
pre-sale only and will be served at 6:30 p.m. prior to
the performance.

The VASJ drama program, under the direction of
second-year faculty member Carrie Walsh-Hilf, has
grown immensely in the past year and a half with the
extremely successful theatre performances of “Meet Me
In St. Louis,” “Grease” and this past fall’s “West
Side Story” playing to rave reviews and packed houses.
VASJ is excited to continue the drama program’s
growth and is looking forward to becoming a viable
entertainment option for not only theatre enthusiasts,
but the entire Northeast Ohio community.

Contemporary American playwright David Ives is
heralded for his unique brand of offbeat, quirky
humor. He is widely known for his one-act plays, six
of which are part of VASJ’s “A Festival of Shorts.”
They are: Variations On the Death of Trotsky; Time
Flies; Words, Words, Words; Philadelphia; Soap Opera;
and Arabian Nights.

“A Festival of Shorts” will take place in VASJ’s Joe
and Ginny Farrell Gymnasium, located at 18491 Lake
Shore Boulevard in Cleveland. Proceeds will benefit
the VASJ Drama Department. All are encouraged to come
and support the arts at VASJ!
