Brecksville Little Theatre presents "Incorruptible," a comedy involving =
the good brothers of a down-on-its luck 13th century Frency monastery. =
It seems the bones of the monks' patron saint haven't worked a miracle =
in many years. Consequently the pilgrims have stopped coming. If there =
are no pilgrims, there are no alms and no way to take care of the poor =
and hungry of the village, let alone themselves. To make matters worse, =
it appears the relics of their patron, Saint Foy, have been stolen by a =
rival abbey, and the bones are, in fact, working miracles there! All =
seems lost until a grave-robbing, one-eyed minstrel gives them an =
irreverent way to put money back into their coffers. But even with =
prosperity, the monks are faced with another dilemma when the Pope comes =
to call expecting to see an Incorruptible, a deceased holy person whose =
body does not decompose. Other complications involve fake relics, a =
feuding abbot and abbess, mistaken identities, and star-crossed lovers. =
As everyone prays for miracles to get them out of their situations, =
miracles do happen!
Georgia Maresh directed, and the show was produced by Georgia Maresh, =
Ken Maresh and Sally Suren. Members of the cast include Brecksville's =
mayor, Jerry Hruby as one of the monks, David Reifel as the monastery's =
abbott, Frank Wilson as second-in-command monk, David Watt as a =
nobleman-monk, Willie Brown as the larcernous minstrel, Julia Wilson as =
his sort-of wife, Linda Ryan as a peasant woman and Rosalie Stremple as =
the abbess.
Show dates are April 27, 28 and 29 and May 4, 5, 6, 11, and 12 on the =
stage of the Old Town Hall located on Brecksville's town square at =
routes 82 and 21. The Old Town Hall is handicapped accessible. =20
Friday and Saturday performances are at 8:00 p.m., and the two Sunday =
performances are at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $10.00. Reservations are =
requested and can be made by calling the box office, 440-526-4477 or =
