Olde Towne Hall Theatre presents

*The Nerd*

Written by Larry Shue
Directed by Brad Sales

Now an aspiring young architect in Terre Haute, Indiana, Willum Cubbert
(Kurt Hildebrand) has often told his friends about the debt he owes to Rick
Steadman, a fellow ex-GI whom he has never met but who saved has life after
he was seriously wounded in Vietnam. He has written to Rick to say that, as
long as he is alive, "you will have somebody on Earth who will do anything
for you"=97so Willum is delighted when Rick (Jim Jason) shows up unexpected=
ly
at his apartment on the night of his thirty-fourth birthday party. But his
delight soon fades as it becomes apparent that Rick is a hopeless "nerd"=97=
a
bumbling oaf with no social sense, little intelligence and less tact. And
Rick stays on and on, his continued presence among Willum and his friends
(Stephen Hubbard, Melissa Lyle) leading to one uproarious incident after
another, until the normally placid Willum finds himself contemplating
violence=97a dire development which, happily, is staved off by the surprisi=
ng
"twist" ending of the play. Rounding out the cast are Mark Silberstein,
Kathy Whitmore and Jarod Wade.

Performances are at the Olde Towne Hall Theatre, 36119 Center Ridge Road,
North Ridgeville on May 3, 4, 5 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $8.00 and may be
reserved by calling the box office at 440-327-2909. For more information,
