The Hiram College Department of Music will sponsor a community
production of Meredith Willson's musical theatre classic, "The Music
Man," in Hiram's Hayden Auditorium July 13-15, 2007. Auditions will be
held in the Frohring Music Building on the Hiram Campus on Saturday, May
19 (2pm - 5pm, 7pm - 9pm) and Sunday, May 20 (2pm - 5pm). This will be
a college/community production (no professional or Equity contracts
available), and ALL ARE INVITED TO AUDITION, regardless of talent level.
All roles are available. We particularly encourage regional Hiram
alumni to audition.

This production will be directed by James Lucas (Hiram Class of '51) of
New York City, an internationally-known opera and musical theatre stage
director. Music direction is by Damaris Peters Pike, and a
professional-quality orchestra will be directed by Paul Dreisbach.

=20

Auditioners are encouraged to prepare an "up-tempo" song of your choice,
preferably from the Broadway/musical theatre repertoire. You may also
sing or sight-read from the show score, which will be provided.
Accompanist also provided. We will do cold readings from the script for
speaking roles.=20

This heartwarming musical has several principal roles, and many minor
"character" and chorus roles for townspeople of all ages! Boys and
girls ages 11 to 14 are particularly encouraged to audition for two
speaking/singing roles (doubling may occur).

=20

To schedule an audition time, please call 330-569-5294. (Walk-ins
without a scheduled audition time will only be accommodated during a
break in the schedule.)=20

=20

We are also seeking volunteers to serve in a variety of non-performing
functions, assisting with set construction, costuming, scene-shifting,
box office, theatre ushers, and others. To volunteer, or for more
information about this production, please call co-producer Don Bernardo
at 330-569-5280 or e-mail bernardode at hiram.edu.
