Strongsville Community Theatre is proud to present "Once Upon a
Mattress", opening May 4th (tonight):

Starring Kathy Madden, Lucas Scattergood and Sarah Limeer, "Once Upon
a Mattress" is a hysterically nutty retelling of the fairy tale "The
Princess and the Pea." By edict, no one in the kingdom is allowed to
marry until Prince Dauntless the Drab finds a bride. The prospects of
that occurring seem dim, since his mother, the insanely overprotective
Queen Aggravain, devises fiendish tests to eliminate all potential
suitors to her son.

The heroic Sir Harry wishes to wed his Lady Larken, so he seeks a wife
for Dauntless. He comes up with Winnifred of the swamps. "Fred", as
she is known, is the opposite of demure. She is a loud, brash, and
charismatic tomboy - characteristics that annoy Aggravain. As Fred
attempts to pass the Queen's test, and as Dauntless finds himself
falling inescapably in love with her, "Once Upon a Mattress" sprints
to its side-splitting conclusion.

Directed by Ted Larsen and under the musical direction of David W.
Coxe, "Mattress" contains tuneful songs with brilliantly hilarious
lyrics, and is peopled by princes, jesters, minstrels, wizards, a
Harpo Marx-like king, and even a giant singing nightingale, "Once Upon
A Mattress" is sheer delight for families and audiences of all ages.
