What:

Passport
Project offers Parade the Circle Camp—Brazil! May 14-June 9:
Mondays through Thursdays, 4:15 to 6:15PM (no class on 5/28). The
camp culminates on June 9 at Parade the Circle Celebration, at the
Cleveland Museum of Art!

 


Registration
Required. Free-$240, Pay What You Can. All ages. Children
under 9 must be accompanied by an adult.

 


The
Afro-Brazilian tradition of Maracatu Rural originates in the sugar
plantations outside of Recife, Brazil. The art form is a visually
striking combination of Indigenous, African and European influences.
Workshops are lead by Cleveland Museum of Art guest artists, Myra
Rasmussen (U.S.), and Ana Paula Jones and Cacau Arcoverde (Brazil),
who will lead participants through creating costumes for the Parade
the Circle Celebration, and learning dance and rhythms of this rich
tradition. REGISTRATION REQUIRED.

 


Parade
the Circle Celebration is presented by the Cleveland Museum of Art
and University Circle, Incorporated.
