Afro-Brazilian tradition of Maracatu Rural originates in the sugar
plantations outside of Recife, Brazil. The art form is a visually
striking combination of Indigenous, African and European influences.
Workshops are lead by Cleveland Museum of Art guest artists, Myra
Rasmussen (U.S.), and Ana Paula Jones and Cacau Arcoverde <font
color="#000000"><font face="Georgia, serif"><font
style="font-size: 11pt;" size="2"><span lang="en-US">(Brazil)</span></font></font></font>,
who will lead participants through creating costumes for the Parade
the Circle Celebration, and learning dance and rhythms of this rich
