TrueNorth Cultural Arts & Meistersinger Decorating are pleased to bring you
“The Power of Breath in Singing” on Saturday, June 23rd, 2007 from 11:00am –
2:00pm. The seminar will be held at TrueNorth Cultural Arts Center located
at 33491 Lake Road in Avon Lake next to the Avon Lake Theater.

Clinician and voice teacher, Paul Kroeger will demonstrate techniques that
will develop your breath for better singing, help singers reach more
comfortable high notes, eliminate that shallow “catchbreath” and reduce
performance anxiety. All singers including: amateurs, semi-professionals,
chorale and church choir members as well as chorale directors are encouraged
and welcome to attend.

Long-time Cleveland vocalist PAUL KROEGER was first seen onstage in opera
and operetta, then in musicals and plays. He helped establish the former
Lyric Opera Cleveland back in 1974, doing leads, supporting roles and chorus
and directed several musicals and The Student Prince at area theatres.

Paul spent several years in New York City and in London working on his voice
and singing in opera. He toured with the Goldovsky Opera and The Gregg Smith
Singers, coached with Beverly Sills’ famous accompanist, Roland Gagnon and
took lessons from Robert Leonard, Marinka Gurewich and Loretta Corelli (wife
of the late great tenor Franco Corelli). He learned about The Alexander
Technique in London, where it was developed and created the role of Thomas
Putnam in the British premiere of Robert Ward’s The Crucible. While in
London, he worked with author and performance psychiatrist John Diamond, who
has done extensive work in behavioral kinesiology and helped hundreds of
performers un-jam their emotions and their breath. Paul set up and hosted
workshops for Dr. Diamond here in Cleveland when the doctor’s work moved to
the States.

Paul has also worked for 27 years with New York’s famous relaxation teacher
Milton Feher, called “the Rajah of Relaxation” by Prevention Magazine.
“Milton teaches that if you want to do anything well, you must learn to
relax!” says Paul, and that “releasing the breath is the key to vocal
stability.”

Here in Cleveland, Paul taught voice and Trombone (which he began at age 9)
for eleven years at Riverside Academy of Music and was a Christian Science
soloist for thirteen years. Paul has stabilized his voice with breathing
techniques learned from David Gooding and Mel Hakola and deepened his study
of the breath with Linda Jones and his own students of voice, trombone and
baritone horn. Paul maintains studios in Lakewood and at TrueNorth in Avon
Lake. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education (trombone/conducting)
from Baldwin-Wallace College and a Master’s in Vocal Performance from The
Cleveland Institute of Music.
