famous characters that made Broadway history and the leading men who
would stay at their side.
Mainstage Musical

Rumpelstiltskin
November 9-18, 2007
Adapted by Tom Bryant (Players Guild veteran)
Based on the classic Grimm Brothers fairy tale about a young girl who
makes a bargain with a mysterious little man who has the power to turn
straw into gold. She soon finds out that the price may be more than she
is able to pay. The Players Guild production is an original adaptation
of this classic tale to be premiered on the Arena stage. Family Theatre
Play

A Christmas Carol
December 7-22, 2007
Story by Charles Dickens
Adapted by Romulus Linney
An adaptation of the story of Ebenezer Scrooge's journey from an
embittered, ungenerous creature into a giving, caring human being at the
hands of three spirits, who, one Christmas Eve, show him what life
means. This richly textured play brings the full spirit of the book, as
well as those of Christmases Past, Present and Yet To Come, to life on
the stage. Mainstage Drama

Tuesdays with Morrie
January 18-27, 2008
Based on the book by Mitch Albom
By Jeffrey Hatcher and Mitch Albom
Based on a true-life-story, Tuesdays With Morrie is a loving memoir to a
man whose lessons on life have much to teach us about ourselves. Sports
columnist Mitch Albom has found success and popularity in his
occupation, but emotionally and spiritually he is bankrupt. While
watching television one night, he comes across an episode of the news
show Nightline and learns that his former university professor Morrie
Schwartz is battling A.L.S. -- better known as Lou Gehrig's Disease.
Mitch contacts Morrie and finds a very warm welcome. The two begin to
discuss the issues of happiness, life, and death, and they soon begin to
meet on a weekly basis as Mitch reassumes the role of Morrie's student.
Arena Drama

To Kill a Mockingbird
February 15-23, 2008
Based on the novel by Harper Lee
Dramatized by Christopher Sergel
Atticus Finch is a lawyer in a racially divided Alabama town in the
1930s. He agrees to defend a young black man who is accused of raping a
white woman. Many of the townspeople try to get Atticus to pull out of
the trial, but he decides to go ahead. How will the trial turn out - and
will it change any of the racial tension in the town ? Through the eyes
of Scout, a feisty six-year-old tomboy, To Kill a Mockingbird carries us
on an odyssey through the fires of prejudice and injustice in early 20th
century America. Mainstage Drama

Charlotte's Web
March 28-April 12, 2008
Story by EB White
Adapted by Joseph Robinette
The Children's Literature Association named this "the best American
children's book of the past two hundred years." All the enchanting
characters are here: Wilbur, the irresistible young pig who desperately
wants to avoid the butcher; Fern, a girl who understands what animals
say to each other; Templeton, the gluttonous rat who can occasionally be
talked into a good deed; the Zuckerman family; the Arables; and, most of
all, the extraordinary spider, Charlotte, who proves to be a true friend
and a good writer. Determined to save Wilbur, Charlotte begins her
campaign. It's the beginning of a victory which ultimately ends with the
now-safe Wilbur doing what is most important to Charlotte. This is a
beautiful, knowing play about friendship that will give your children a
day of enchantment. Family Theatre Play

Peter Pan
May 23-June 14, 2008
A musical based on the play by James M. Barrie
Lyrics by Lyrics by Carolyn Leigh, Betty Comden and Adolph Green.
Music by Mark Charlap and Jule Styne.
This is an everlasting classic account of two boys and a girl who follow
Peter Pan and the invisible fairy, Tinker Bell, into Never Land, where
children never grow old and where Captain Hook and his pirates are
outwitted. First produced on Broadway with Mary Martin and Cyril Richard
and more recently a major hit starring Cathy Rigby, this is one of the
world's most celebrated musicals. Mainstage Musical
