Players Guild to host Until the Violence Stops event on June 23

Canton, OH- The Players Guild of Canton has joined forces with the Until
the Violence Stops festival being held in Northeast Ohio. 

Until the Violence Stops (UTVS) will bring the issue of violence against
women front and center in the community. For two weeks in June 2007, via
images, messages, conversations and an outrageous Festival of theatre,
comedy, spoken word, and performance UTVS will take over Northeast Ohio.
The nationwide festival is sponsored by famed actress and writer Eve
Ensler. 

Canton's event will be held Saturday, June 23 at 7pm at the Players
Guild Theatre. It will be an evening of monologues about overcoming
violence and music with special performance by the Spider Lillies.
Speakers for the evening will include workers from the Domestic Violence
Shelter. A free will donation of $10 per person will be accepted at the
door. 

UTVS is a part of V-Day, a nonprofit corporation, is a global grassroots
movement to end violence against women and girls. Since its inception in
1998 the organization has raised more than $35 million dollars in all 50
United States and 81 countries to support survivors of violence and help
organizations around the world revolutionize our universal lexicon to
make rape, abuse, incest, sex slavery, and female genital mutilation
language of the past. V-Day is an effective and proven model of
empowerment and philanthropy, inviting men and women to use art and
performance to raise funds and public awareness in their own
communities.
