Search begins for First Night performers and artists
Performing and visual artists of all disciplines are encouraged to submit proposals by July 1, 2007. 
  AKRON, Ohio, (May 7, 2007)- Downtown Akron Partnership seeks local and regional artists to participate in First Night® Akron 2008.  Artist proposals are being accepted for all performing and visual arts, including, but not limited to: dance, theater, puppetry, film, music, visual art installations, interactive/participatory activities, and storytelling.  Cover bands, dance groups, and roving entertainers are encouraged to apply.  

All performers are paid.  Selection is based on artistic merit, quality of support materials, technical feasibility and availability of funds.  Please note: An early deadline for proposals has been set this year.  Deadline for proposals is July 1, 2007.
  Interested artists should mail a completed application form by July 1, 2007 to First Night Akron, c/o Artist Selection Committee, 58 W. Exchange St, Suite C, Akron, OH  44308. Applications are available at www.firstnightakron.org.

The following support material should accompany the application:
  ·            Detailed description of performance or project                     
·           Stage diagram including required dimensions
·            Technical requirements (Artist must be able to provide sound, if needed.)
·            Support material (CD, DVD, VHS, audio tapes, photos, drawings, etc.)
·           All other requirements including sound, dressing rooms, etc.      
  First Night® Akron is a community celebration of the New Year through the arts. It is an alcohol-free, public festival that marks the passage from the old year to the new with art, ritual and festivity.  The celebration marks a unique and brief moment in time, creating lasting memories for all guests.  
  First Night is a program of Downtown Akron Partnership. Founding partners of the program are the City of Akron and the Akron Beacon Journal. For more information and to download an application form, visit www.firstnightakron.org.
