OBERLIN BAROQUE PERFORMANCE INSTITUTE CELEBRATES
36th SEASON
OBERLIN, OHIO (June 19, 2007)=97The Oberlin Baroque Performance =20
Institute (BPI), now in its 36th season at the Oberlin Conservatory =20
of Music at Oberlin College, brings together an international faculty =20=
of acclaimed performers and scholars for a two-week institute titled =20
=93Warm Winds from the North Sea=97Music of Hamburg and North Germany: =20=
Buxtehude, Teleman, C.P.E. Bach, and Others,=94 June 17 through June =20
30, 2007.
The institute includes intensive instruction in voice, choral =20
conducting, baroque ornamentation, and a large variety of baroque =20
instruments, as well as master classes and private lessons, an =20
ornamentation workshop, coached ensemble work, lectures, baroque =20
dance classes, and concerts. Many of the events and concerts during =20
the institute are free and open to the public.
Public events include:
=B7 Two concerts featuring BPI faculty on Friday, June 22, at 8 =20
p.m. in Kulas Recital Hall and Friday, June 29, at 8 p.m. in Warner =20
Concert Hall. Admission for the concerts is $10.00 at the door, and =20
can be reserved in advance by calling 440-775-8044.
=B7 Monday through Thursday of the weeks of June 18 and June 25, =20=
BPI faculty members will present free lectures and/or =93faculty =20
fringe=94 recitals, beginning at 1:30 p.m. in Kulas Recital Hall.
=B7 BPI student participants will showcase their work in free =20
recitals Saturday, June 23, and Saturday, June 30, in Kulas Recital =20
Hall. Both recitals begin at 2 p.m.
