Photography/Theatre Workshop this weekend !!!
Calling all high school and upper middle school students!!!

What: "My name is _____: Experiments in Performance, Photography and
Character"

A weekend-long workshop that will focus on developing characters through a
combination of performance and photography. We will draw inspiration from
artists such as Cindy Sherman, Nikki S. Lee, Eleanor Antin, and Walid Ra'ad,
in order to create, role-play, and document fictional alter-egos. Students'
creations will allow them to combine multiple media while exploring
identities, including race, class, and gender, beyond those they normally
see themselves as possessing.

Who: Presented by the teachers of the Slightly Askew Theatre Company of New
York City

When: Friday June 22, Saturday June 23, Sunday June 24, 10-6 pm each day

Where: Fedor Manor in Lakewood, OH 12400 Madison Ave. 44107 and in the
surrounding neighborhood of Birdtown.

Plan to be outside during most of the day. So come prepared. BRING A CAMERA
(digital is the best option). Bring water, *your lunch*, sunglasses,
sunscreen, pens, paper, photos that you love, or anything else that you
think you might need during the day.

You can register in advance by emailing lsicil at gmail.com or calling
216-548-1920. You can also walk up the day of the class and pay the fee of
$60 at the door on Friday.

Instructor Bios:

ALEX STONE-THARP attended Sarah Lawrence College in New York where he
pursued everything from producing homemade photographic paper to large
format industrial landscapes and digital manipulations. Alex's documentary
landscape project entitled "Recently Bought" had its gallery debut this past
September at the Medium One group show in New York City. His images have
been used as inspiration for a track of the *Music for a
Picture*compilation by sqrt records, a small Polish cd-r/dvd-r label
focused on
experimental electronics, improvisation, and electroacoustic music. Most
recently he worked with visual artists, chefs and performers to create an
installation for Refraction Arts Annual Fuse Box Festival of multi-media
performance work.

JESSICA WININGHAM is a graduate of NYU's Tisch School of the Arts in
theatre. Productions include Slightly Askew's *Troilus and Cressida*
and *Where
the Blue Grass Grows...,* Suzi-Lori Parks' *Death of the Last Black Man in
the Whole Entire World* and *Henry VIII *for the Royal Academy of Dramatic
Arts. Past teaching experiences include Yale University (Fall 2004), Rocky
River Community Theatre and STAGES St. Louis Performing Academy (Summer
2005), and an upcoming workshop at the International Center in Manhattan
(May 2007).

LISA SICILIANO is the Cleveland partner for the NY-Cleveland Conspiracy. She
is a theatre artist who graduated cum laude and with distinction in the
theater studies major from Yale University in 2005. Much of her work this
past year has been involved with Cleveland Public Theatre (including *The
10-Minute Play Festival*, *Speak Truth to Power*, her own play *When the
Wind Blows*, and a reading of *The Importance of Not Being Frank*.) This
summer she is teaching drama at the Cleveland Foundation's new summer arts
academy SmART in the City and will be playing Kate in *Taming of the
Shrew*with the Cleveland Shakespeare Festival and Reggie in The Bang
and Clatter
Theatre Company's *Some Girl(s)*. She also invites everyone to come and see
*How the Monkeys Saved the Jungle* the play she is currently directing for
Dobama's Marilyn Bianchi Kids' Playwriting Festival at the end of June.

*Take a look at this website as a preparation for the weekend:
http://nyconspiracy.wordpress.com/about, but don't worry about being caught
up with any of the assignments ESPECIALLY if you are a new student. But if
you have done any of the assignments off the blog, please do bring them
along to the workshop. So, if you're itching to get into the mind frame for
the weekend, then here's a good place to start looking for inspiration!*
