Turning Pointe offers summer semester July 9-Aug. 4

Canal Fulton, Ohio - If reality TV shows you have watched such as "Dancing
with the Stars" and "So You Think You Can Dance," or even attending a recent
wedding reception has roused an interest in dancing, The Turning Pointe
School of Dance can help.

Nearly every dance style imaginable will be available at The Turning Pointe
this summer at 2387 Locust St. S., for dancers of all ages. 

Teens and adults may be interested in advanced musical theatre, line dance,
adult/teen beginner ballet, pilates and break dance along with tap, jazz and
ballet offered during the four-week summer semester July 9-August 4. Many of
the adult classes are offered in the evening to accommodate people's work
schedules. Classes in cheer dance, creative movement, pre-ballet, tumbling,
tap and others are offered for children beginning at age 3.

As far as line dance and ballroom, Judy Cain will be teaching classes
beginning Thursday, July 12 and running for four consecutive weeks. Classes
are fun and a great form of exercise, says Cain, who has owned a dance
school for years and is known for "Exercise with Judy" from cable
television.

Beginner line dance is 6-7 p.m.; intermediate line dance is 7-8 p.m.; and
ballroom dance is 8-9 p.m. Pre-registration is requested.

            The beginning line dance class is structured toward basic steps
and classic line dances, Cain said. Students will learn the Electric Slide,
Stray Cat Strut, Rita's Waltz and more. This class is geared toward
8-year-olds and up. Children younger than 12 must have an adult attending
class with them. This is a fun class for parents to bond with their children
this summer, Cain says.

            The intermediate line dance class will work on the top 20 dances
which are being done around the world, such as waltzes, cha chas, hip hop,
swing, and fox trot.  

"Line dancing is no longer limited to country music as you will see in this
class," says Cain.

People are welcome to come with or without partners to the ballroom class.

 "Dancing with the Stars' has brought back this style of dancing and we have
the opportunity to learn the basic jitterbug & cha cha steps right here in
our own community," Cain said. 

 "Mothers this is a wonderful gift for you to give your sons and Dads your
daughters will love you even more for signing up both of you," Cain says.
