For those of you who knew Dr. Floyd Gaffney, I just thought I'd pass along
the news that he has passed away this week. I've met a few folks here who
knew him, but may not have kept in touch over the years, so I'm posting this
for their benefit.

Dr. Gaffney was from Cleveland and trained in theatre arts and dance here,
cutting his teeth at Karamu and other prestigious houses.   Dr. Gaffney's
illustrious career eventually brought him to San Diego, CA, where he taught
at the University of Calif and, upon his retirement, was awarded the title
of Professor Emeritus at that institution.   

He was an "institution" as an artist, director, producer and all around
'mover and shaker' in the San Diego and LA theatre scene and shall be
greatly missed there.
