Harvey
October 19-21
October 26-28
7:30 pm
Harvey is six foot eight inches tall. We do not have a picture or=20
photograph of Harvey because well.... he=E2=80=99s invisible. That=E2=80=
=99s right. You heard=20
right. Invisible. That is to everyone except Elwood P. Dowd, who converse=
s with=20
him every day and who tries to have everyone meet Harvey at all social=20
gatherings, much to the dismay of his sister and his niece. The family you=
see has=20
become the laughingstock of the entire town and many people shy away so the=
y=20
won=E2=80=99t have to meet Elwood and an invisible rabbit who is taller tha=
n LeBron=20
James. =20
So what to do? Convince Elwood that he needs to go to the Sanitarium is th=
e=20
only option. Unfortunately, the people in the sanitarium don=E2=80=99t kno=
w who is=20
crazier, the sister or Elwood. =20
The comedy which is two acts spirals out of control until the finale in=20
which you must determine if Harvey is real or not real.

March 7-9
March 14-16
7:30 PM all nights
This is a story of a young Jewish girl who works at an independent book=20
store on the East Side of New York. She is fascinated with a young poet-wr=
iter=20
who seems to have one love in his life, himself. She is also devoted to he=
r =E2=80=9C
Bubby=E2=80=9D (Yiddish for grandmother), who has other ideas for this girl=
=E2=80=99s love=20
life. Hiring a =E2=80=9Cyenta=E2=80=9D or a matchmaker, she finds for her=20=
granddaughter the=20
perfect Jewish man. Except the girl does not seem so interested.
The story deals with her =E2=80=9CBubby=E2=80=99s=E2=80=9D constant insiste=
nce on giving this man a=20
chance. The girl schooled in the arts does not seem to be all that enamore=
d=20
with dating a man who makes and sells pickles for a living. However, the=20
man is more than what appears.
Will the girl get the poet-writer or the pickle salesman? You will just=20
have to come and see what happens

Recap of the 2006-2007 Season and Miscellaneous News
The 2006-2007 season was one of highs and lows. The highs included the=20
attendance breaking hits, The Odd Couple and My Fair Lady. The Odd Couple=20=
was=20
performed over six nights during November, 2006. Two Hundred Fifty Seven=20
people attended the six performances, easily eclipsing the old record set b=
y Bus=20
Stop in March, 2006. Led by Greg Reninger and Nate Cochran, the play recei=
ved=20
excellent reviews from those who saw it.
My Fair Lady was presented in late April and early May, 2007. Over six=20
nights, Three Hundred Ten people came to see the wonderful story of the=20
transformation of Eliza Doolittle from a guttersnipe to a lady. The attend=
ance=20
virtually destroyed The Odd Couple=E2=80=99s record.
These highs along with the arrival of such new stars and actors as Persis=20
Sosiak, Tim Charlton, Richard Burton Brown, Bryan Burkett, Matt King, Sandr=
a=20
Schmeltzer, Megan Huber and Steve Kerestes gave a luster to a rather diffic=
ult=20
year. =20
The theatre did a great deal of expansion in the prop and costume departmen=
t=20
and developed new ways to present the plays. Several key uses of the sound=
=20
system and the introduction of new lighting made this an exciting year. =20
The lows consisted of the cancellation of the Christmas play, The Christmas=
=20
Gifts, which was delayed until this year due to scheduling problems, and th=
e=20
total rearrangement of the schedule of Born Yesterday due to an emergency=20
surgical procedure to one of the spouses of the actors. The loss of revenu=
e=20
from The Christmas Gifts caused Director Dave Van Gaasbeek to make difficul=
t=20
decisions as to costuming and makeup. The rearrangement of the scheduling=20=
for=20
Born Yesterday held down attendance.
With the new year starting, the theatre is enthusiastically moving in a=20
forward direction and hopes to develop new programs.
----------------
Nate Cochran at Disney World
Nate Cochran who has been in numerous productions received excellent news=20
when he was hired by Disney World to be a character and an actor at the wor=
ld=20
renowned park in Orlando, Florida. Nate has portrayed several beloved=20
characters already and is according to his sister having a great time.
--------------------
Sarah Peters does well in the Big Apple
Sarah Peters, working through the Pro Model and Talent Agency, finished=20
eighth out in a field of one thousand candidates at the IMTA Expo held in N=
ew=20
York City during the week of July 22-29. Sarah received five call backs an=
d=20
five awards for her efforts. All was not fun and games though. Sarah had=20=
to=20
attend a performance of Spamalot and take a cruise around the Statute of=20
Liberty. Congratulations to Sarah for a job well done.

g July,=20
2007. She appeared as Irene Molloy, the owner of the hat shop, who becomes=
=20
smitten with Cornelius, the store clerk who is 28 3/4 years old. As usual,=
she=20
was excellent in her portrayal.
HARVEY AUDITIONS
AUGUST 27-28 AT 7:00 PM
FELLOWSHIP HALL
5 MEN AND 5 FEMALE PARTS
Merry Wives of Windsor by William Shakespeare
=20
On August 24-25, 2007 at 8:00 pm, the Canton Summer Shakespeare Festival=
=20
will be presenting the comedy, The Merry Wives of Windsor. The comedy will=
=20
be presented on Court Street between Fifth and Sixth Street NW, Canton, Ohi=
o. =20
That is near Little Chicago Restaurant and the Palace Theatre. The play is=
=20
being sponsored by Second April Art Gallery. It is being directed by Frank=
=20
Motz. Participating in the comedy are Dave Van Gaasbeek, Lisa Van Gaasbeek=
,=20
and Matt King of the Canal Fulton Players. =20
The story is about two wives (Janet Jones and Mary Lou Ianni) who live in=20
Windsor, England, and who have both received unrequited love letters from t=
he=20
nefarious knight, Sir John Falstaff, (played by Bob Parenti) who is running=
=20
short of funds. Seeing the opportunity to woo two wives who have a lot of=20
money, Sir John tries to win them by stating sweet nothings. What happens=20=
is=20
that Sir John runs afoul with two wives who use every trick in the book to=20
humiliate him because of his advances. Throw in a highly jealous husband,=20=
played=20
by Dave Van Gaasbeek, and a mischievous messenger, played by Lisa Van=20
Gaasbeek, and the comedy is off and running. =20
The admission is free and parking is plentiful and nearby. For further=20
information, please call Dave Van Gaasbeek at 330-494-1022 or 330-854-4387.=
This=20
comedy is the only play that Shakespeare wrote in prose and was written upo=
n=20
the order Queen Elizabeth I. It is reported that she loved the Falstaff=20
character from Henry IV, Parts 1 and 2 that she ordered a comedy which incl=
uded=20
the character as the central theme. William Shakespeare wrote the play whi=
ch=20
has become a classic and has given the word, =E2=80=9Cfalstaffian=E2=80=9D,=
to the English =20
language.
This play also marks the reunion of Bob Parenti, Joe Martuccio, and Dave Va=
n=20
Gaasbeek, who twenty five years ago starred in Woody Allen=E2=80=99s God at=
the=20
North Canton Playhouse. All three said that they would do a play together=20=
again=20
but none of them thought it would take twenty five years to accomplish the=20
feat. Bob has had a long career in the theatre from that start in November=
,=20
1982, and he has starred in productions in Canton, Alliance, and other plac=
es=20
in Northeast Ohio. Joe has also had a long career in the theatre and has=20
served as the president of Canton Players=E2=80=99 Guild for many years. D=
ave has=20
somehow managed to keep his acting career focused while surrounding it with=
various=20
stints as a girls=E2=80=99 soccer coach and a boys=E2=80=99 baseball coach.
The man who brought them together again is the man who brought them togethe=
r=20
originally, Frank Motz, who returns to directing and producing in this=20
rather aggressive and imaginative way. The play is performed outside and i=
n=20
Canton proper. Frank has managed to bring some of the best of the Stark Co=
unty=20
acting talent together to join Bob, Joe and Dave. He has also brought his=20=
low=20
key style which proved so effective in God. =20
There are no tickets necessary and seating is 200 though no one will be=20
turned away. There is an alternative site nearby in the event of rain.
