GLORIA KIM APPOINTED ASSISTANT DEAN
OF THE OBERLIN CONSERVATORY OF MUSIC
OBERLIN, OHIO (August 31, 2007)=97 David H. Stull, Dean of the Oberlin =20=
Conservatory of Music, has announced the appointment of Gloria Kim as =20=
Assistant Dean for Artistic Programming and Operations at the =20
Conservatory.
Kim will be responsible for overseeing and =20
administrating Oberlin=92s Artist Recital Series, the Conservatory=92s =20=
national and international tours, and all other special performance =20
projects, including events involving student performers and community =20=
performances.
An Oberlin alumna, Kim earned a Bachelor of Music degree =20=
in Piano Performance from the Conservatory and a Bachelor of Arts =20
degree in Arts Administration from the College of Arts and Sciences =20
in 2002. She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Lambda.
Upon graduation, Kim=92s career was launched with a prestigious =20
Orchestra Management Fellowship from the American Symphony Orchestra =20
League. The one-year training program teaches leadership skills to =20
select individuals who aspire to be chief executives of American =20
orchestras. As a Fellow, Kim underwent an intensive orientation in =20
the music industry and held several residencies at major music =20
organizations throughout the United States, including the Chicago =20
Symphony Orchestra, Greenville (SC) Symphony Orchestra, Indianapolis =20
Symphony Orchestra, and Aspen Music Festival and School.
Following her fellowship, Kim moved to California, where =20=
she was appointed Manager of the Annual Fund for the Los Angeles =20
Philharmonic Association. Raising nearly $5 million annually for the =20
association, Kim successfully created and implemented all activities =20
for the annual giving campaigns, which involved direct mail and tele-=20
fundraising efforts, personal solicitation and cultivation, =20
stewardship programs, and special events. She held the crucial =20
management post from 2003 to 2007.
In 2006, after a competitive selective process, Kim was =20
named a NetKAL (Network of Korean-American Leaders) Fellow at the =20
University of Southern California (Los Angeles). The NetKAL =20
Fellowship is a leadership and networking program for emerging Korean-=20=
American leaders to further their professional careers and widen =20
their roles in the community.
The Oberlin Conservatory of Music, founded in 1865 and =20
situated amid the intellectual vitality of Oberlin College since =20
1867, is the oldest continuously operating conservatory in the United =20=
States. The Conservatory is renowned internationally as a =20
professional music school of the highest caliber and has been =20
pronounced a =93national treasure=94 by the Washington Post. Oberlin=92s =

alumni have gone on to achieve illustrious careers in all aspects of =20
