The Duhks (pronounced "ducks") is an unusual name for a band, but then
again, this is an unusual band.  The brainchild of clawhammer banjoist
Leonard Podolak, whose father founded the Winnipeg Folk Festival, the =
band
also includes: percussionist, Scott Senior; fiddler, Tania Elizabeth;
guitarist, Jordan McConnell; and new vocalist Sarah Dugas. With Dugas'
recent addition, The Duhks add even more diversity of sound to songs, =
old
and new, during their energetic live performances.

Since the release of their self-titled, Bela Fleck-produced album in =
2005,
these five skilled, high-energy, twenty-somethings from Winnipeg, =
Manitoba
have been riveting audiences and winning fans across North America and
around the world with their blend of interwoven soul, gospel, North =
American
folk, Brazilian samba, old time country string band, zydeco, and Irish =
dance
music. The band plays a sometimes high-energy blend of Appalachian =
old-time
string band, Irish fiddle tunes, and rock/folk fusion. Other times they =
play
delicate, finger-picked traditional instrumentals. Their first album, =
Your
Daughters & Your Sons, was nominated for a Juno award; their second =
album
won a Juno for Best Roots & Traditional Album by a Group; and and =
"Heaven's
My Home" from their third album was nominated for the 2007 Grammy award =
