Seth Gordon goes through the salient  points of directing a play and offers=20=
a=20
director's approach to  preparing a script for production. =20
Day  One  =E2=80=93 The nuts and bolts of directing.=20
Day  Two  =E2=80=93 Applying the nuts and bolts on preparations for directin=
g the=20
American  classic Our Town. The  day will culminate with volunteers acting o=
ut a=20
scene from Our Town with the  participants team directing.

Seth Gordon is  Associate Artistic Director of  the  Cleveland Play House. A=
t=20
the Play House, he produces FusionFest, helps with  season planning and=20
casting, runs the Playwrights=E2=80=99 Unit, and directs plays. His  Play Ho=
use directing=20
credits include Dinner with Friends, Proof, Forest City (world premiere),=20
Vincent in Brixton,  Tuesdays with Morrie, A Christmas  Story and this seaso=
n RFK=20
and Of Mice and Men. He has also directed in  Cleveland for Dobama Theatre,=20=
the=20
Cleveland Shakespeare Festival, and the Beck  Center for the Arts. He=20
recently directed the Arabic premiere of Our Town in Cairo. Previously, he s=
erved  as=20
Literary Manager and then as Associate Producer of Primary Stages in New =20
York, where he produced and/or directed countless productions, workshops and=
 =20
readings of new plays by this country=E2=80=99s leading playwrights. While a=
t Primary =20
Stages, he also founded the New American Writers Group, which supports the n=
ext =20
generation of playwrights. He has also directed at many other New York=20
theatres,  and has directed and lectured at various universities including C=
ase=20
Western  Reserve University.  He has received  grants from the National Endo=
wment=20
for the Arts, Theatre Communications Group,  The Jerome Foundation, and AT&T=
.=20
Productions he produced at Primary Stages  received Obie Awards, Theatre Wor=
ld=20
Awards, and several Drama Desk nominations.  He received the 2004 Northern=20
Ohio Live Award for Excellence in Theatre. He  received his education at the=
=20
High School of Performing Arts in New York, and  Carnegie Mellon University=20=
in=20
Pittsburgh. He considers himself a lucky  man.=20
