Pioneer Days in Aurora 

 
A Moore Education Center and Aurora Parks and Recreation  sponsored event. 
Mark your calendars for September 22 and 23, 2007 for Pioneer  Days at the 
Moore Education Center, 525 South Bissell Rd, Aurora, Ohio, from  11:00am to 
7:00pm. Admission is $4.00 per person, children under three are  free. 
There will be a team of oxen, a petting zoo, free hayrides,  Alpacas, pony 
rides, a pioneer theater, a midway with games, many crafters,  talks and 
lectures throughout the day, and the Fire department will operate the  Fire Safety 
Trailer to teach fire safety. 
The 5th Texas Company, a Confederate Civil War Artillery Company  will 
establish an encampment and demonstrate firing muskets and cannons. The 5th  Ohio 
Sharp Shooters, a Union Company will also be present. The soldiers welcome  
visitors to mingle with them and share information on their lives as well as  
their clothing and what daily life was during the Civil War. The Civil War  Ladies 
of Ravenna will present a fashion show of the dresses of the period.  There 
will be only one presentation on Saturday at 2:00pm. 
Learn the life of pioneers and experience the Lewis and Clark  expedition 
when Kulture Kids Presents "Sacagawea Speaks", the  Shoshone woman that traveled 
with Lewis and Clark, and show times both days are  1 PM and 4 PM.  Learn the 
life of a Mountain Man Trapper. 
Other  presentations include how our country was surveyed, the life of the 
Honey Bee,  Baseball during the Civil War and local history. 
Demonstrations include spinning honey out of the comb, candle  dipping, wool 
fiber spinning, and felting. You can also experience home made ice  cream, 
apple pie, bread and much more. 
Weather permitting, nationally known world record holder Captain  Kurt Fister 
of flightjunkies.com will be performing amazing aerobatics in his  powered 
paraglider ultrilight. 
This is truly a fun and educational experience for the entire  family. There
