***Bulletin - Tuesday, 9/18/07***
7:00am Tuesday, September 18, 2007
This morning when I just checked the queue there were over one hundred
messages waiting to be approved. And a large digest had gone out. It appears that
Hostway has fixed the problem, at least for the moment. I am still
considering changing over to a new system. We'll see how long the "fix" lasts. Please
do read the rest of the "history" below so you understand why there have been
problems for the past several weeks.
Monday, September 17, 2007
Hostway informed me this morning that in order to fix the problem, they have
to move Neohiopal to a new server. Just a few minutes ago they informed me
the problem is more complicated, because in order to move it to a new server
they have to upgrade the software and charge me five times more, as well as
limit the list to 2,300 subscribers. I told them that it isn't possible to dump
half the subscribers. They are reviewing the situation and will get back to
me shortly. In the meantime, I am researching other services and may have to
transfer to another software. If any of you have suggetions for this, please
email me at fsternfeld at aol.com.
A summary of the problems ...
The Digest version has only been working sporadically for the last several
weeks. I have been calling Hostway repeatedly to fix the problem. So far, the
only action from Hostway has been to occasionally push out the accumulated
postings - so that is why you have seen digests of 150 and 130. But obviously
the underlying problem has not gotten fixed yet because it is still not going
out on a daily basis.
Also, as of 2pm, Saturday, September 15, the one-at-a-time postings aren't
going out. The entire system is currently jammed.
To see what you have missed through Saturday, September 15, 2pm, check out
the _archives_ (http://lists.fredsternfeld.com/pipermail/neohiopal/) .
Thanks for your patience.
Warm Regards,
Fred Sternfeld
