This is the latest update to ArtsCenterNews.Com For neck-biting
laughter, sink your teeth into a light-hearted romp through a
not-so-familiar horror classic when G. B. Community Theatre at the
Ashtabula Arts Center opens their season tomorrow night with Rick
Abbot's "Dracula the Musical?" Performances will be held on October 5,
6, 7, 12, 13, 14, 19 and 20. Friday and Saturday performances begin
at 8 p.m. Sunday matinees begin at 3 p.m.

Creator Rick Abbot spins the legend of everyone's favorite vampire
into a hilarious musical farce. With a comedic jab at Bram Stoker's
classic tale, this batty spoof centers around a madhouse run by one
Dr. Seward. When the blood-craving Hungarian Count Dracula moves into
the neighborhood and sets his fangs on Seward's daughter, crazed
vampire hunter Van Helsing tries to warn the household. But his good
intentions fly out the window and he and the Count square off for a
musical battle between good and evil. Bloody good songs like "I Love
the Night," "Stupid Superstition" and "The Tippy, Tippy Tap of Love"
are sure to stab you in the funny bone!

"Rick Abbot's over-the-top script has kept us all in stitches even in
rehearsals," says Director Douglas Anderson. "Every time you think
the show might finally turn serious, it takes an unexpected turn
deeper into belly-laugh territory.

"This script drives a stake through the most serious conventions of
the horror genre. All the elements you expect are here -- bats,
mirrors, and ladies in white pining for the vampire -- but each with a
loopy twist."

Show tickets are $10 adults, $9 seniors and $8 students and children
and can be purchased by calling the Arts Center at (440) 964-3396.
Walk-in tickets can also be purchased if seating is available.

Dinner will be available before the performance on Saturday, October
13. Dinner seating is at 6:30 p.m. Reservations and pre-payment are

"Madhouse Menu" will include "Bubu Padoop's French Onion Soup,"

garden)," "Boris' Bug Bean Medley," "R.I.P. Rolls with Butter,"
