*Cleveland to Celebrate "Dia de Muertos" – The Day of the Dead*

*October 26-28 2007*


 Cleveland, Ohio – On *Friday, October 26, from 6 to 10pm,* Cleveland's St.
Clair Superior neighborhood will host the state of Ohio's only "Día de
Muertos" – the Day of the Dead celebration. This *free*, event will take
place at *Josaphat Arts Hall (1433 East 33rd Street)*. Artistas Latinos
Unidos (*ALU*) with the help of local organizations and sponsors, will host
the following activities:


 *OFRENDAS*

DAY OF THE DEAD TRADITION LECTURE

By: *Lilly Corona Moreno & Alex Corona* (Spanish/English).

MUSIC BY MARIACHI *"JOYA DE MEXICO"*

MUSIC BY *"GRACIELA, PATRICIA & FELIPE"*

FOOD.

 The festivities will center around "*ofrendas*" or "*offerings*" for the
Day of the Dead created by 13 local artists who have come together to share
their artistic visions of an "*ofrenda*". Each "*ofrenda*" reflects the
artist's personal beliefs and interpretation of a traditional offering in
honor of his or her departed loved ones.


 The "*ofrendas*" will be on display inside Josaphat Arts Hall from October
26 through October 28. The times for Saturday, October 27 and Sunday October
28 are from 12 to 4pm and will also include children's workshops and
community offerings.


 In Latin America, it is traditional to observe the "Día de Muertos"-- the
Day of the Dead. In the Mexican culture it is a colorful, festive occasion
where the spirits of deceased loved ones are welcomed back for a day of
ritual and amusement, we are celebrating our third year of this fantastic
event.
