Great Lakes Theater Festival Announces 

Auditions For Touring Production SEEING RED

 

            Great Lakes Theater Festival (GLTF) announces open auditions
for non-equity actors for the community outreach touring production
Seeing Red, a one-act play comprised of actual House Un-American
Activities Committee testimony.  This production, written by GLTF
Education Director Daniel Hahn, is developed in support of the
Festival's spring 2008 mainstage production of Arthur Miller's The
Crucible, and will tour to 27 community venues in northern Ohio between
February 19 and March 20, 2008, Sundays through Fridays.  Approximately
half of the performances are during the day.  The play will be directed
by GLTF Associate Artistic Director Andrew May.

 

            Needed are four actors to portray the following roles:
Arthur Miller (Caucasian male, 20s - 30s); Hallie Flanagan (Caucasian
female, 20s - 30s); Ronald Reagan (Caucasian male, 20s - 30s); Paul
Robeson (African-American male, 20s - 30s).  Evening rehearsals begin
Tuesday, January 29, 2008, but preliminary costume fittings will be
scheduled in November 2007.  All positions are paid.

 

            Those auditioning should bring a headshot and resume and
prepare two contrasting contemporary monologues.  Total audition time
should not exceed three minutes.  Familiarity with Miller's The Crucible
is helpful but not immediately required.  Audition slots are available
on Tuesday, November 6, 2007 and Thursday, November 8, 2007 from 9:30
a.m. until 1:00 p.m. both days.  Audition sessions will take place at
Playhouse Square Center's Green Rehearsal Hall, 1650 Chester Avenue,
Cleveland, OH  44114.
