[NEohioPAL] "The Shadow of a Gunman" opens at Case Western Reserve University

Eldred Theater on the campus of Case Western Reserve University continues its 2007-2008 production season with a classic, tragic-comedy, The Shadow of a Gunman, by Sean O'Casey, one of the great Irish dramatists of the 20th century.
 
Performances are at 8 p.m., November 9, 10, 15, 16 and 17 with Sunday matinees at 2:30 p.m. on November 11 and 18. Eldred Theater is at 2070 Adelbert Road on the Case quad behind Millis Science Center.
 
Set in a Dublin tenement building in May 1920, The Shadow of a Gunman charts the daily lives of its occupants—Irish characters who struggle with grim realism as the War of Irish Independence rages. The tale of poets, dreamers and terrorists who collide to create an unlikely hero, the play includes uproarious comedy and bone-chilling catastrophe.
 
The undergraduate ensemble is directed by Mark Alan Gordon, adjunct associate professor in the Department of Theater and Dance and associate director of the graduate acting program. The production team includes guest designers from the Cleveland Play House: Jill Davis, set; Kristen Egan, lights; and Kristine Davies, costumes.
 
General admission is $10, with discounted prices of $7 for adults over 60 and Case Western Reserve personnel and $5 for students. For ticket reservations or information, call the box office for the Department of Theater and Dance at 216-368-6262.
