Modern Problems

by Steve Maistros

Thursday, November 15th

7:30pm

Is not wanting a new recliner a treatable medical condition? Are you
crazy if see a psychologist in a mall? At what age does 'Bring Your Son
to Work Day' turn awkward? How do pirate hats and a petting zoo goat
fit into a work presentation? Modern Problems, a play by Steve Maistros,
explores what happens when normal people are placed in abnormal
situations and abnormal people are placed in normal situations. Everyday
life already teeters on the edge of absurdity. This collection of
comedic monologues and one act plays show that absurdity lies just one
twist away from reality.

Written by Steve Maistros, Directed by Christopher Johnston

Featuring Anne McEvoy, Sarah Kunchik, Joe Milan, Matt Zitelli and Allen
Branstein

U.S. v. Howard Mechanic

by Faye Sholiton

Friday, November 16th

7:30pm

Adapted from FUGITIVE CANDIDATE, the Autobiography of Howard Mechanic,
the Last Prisoner of the Vietnam War

After nearly 30 years, the running is over for Howard Mechanic.
Wrongfully convicted of throwing a cherry bomb during a campus antiwar
demonstration on May 4, 1970, he went underground rather than face a
five-year prison sentence. He transformed himself into Phoenix
businessman and civic leader Gary Tredway, a man he might have remained
had he not decided in late 1999 to run for public office. By February
2000, he is once again Howard Mechanic, but he wears a prison uniform
that could be his wardrobe for the foreseeable future. From behind the
bars he had so carefully avoided, he must find a way to remain whole -
and gain a new understanding of what it means to be "free."

Written by Faye Sholiton, Directed by Bill Hoffman

Featuring Tom Woodward*, Nick Koesters*, Michael Mauldin*, Michael
Sepesy, Susan Lucier, Sarah Kunchik, Laurel Brooke Johnson, Shawn
Galligan, Josh Brown and Stuart Hoffman
