MEDIA MEMO: December 4, 2007For immediate releaseContact: Barbara BallancePhone:330-836-1353Email:barbaraballance at theillusionfactory.orgThe Illusion Factory, Akron’s beloved professional theatre group, which caters to youth audiences, announces brand new acting classes available for children from four years old to teenagers.The Illusion Factory continues their commitment to children and young adults by offering professionally taught acting classes that meet Ohio’s Academic Content Standards for Fine Arts.The students enrolled in The Illusion Factory’s Theater School will develop a wide range of performance experiences.Classes are held on Saturday mornings from January 19th – April 5th, at the Northwest Family Recreation Center, 1730 Shatto Avenue.(See following list of classes and times).A final performance will be presented on April 5th.The Illusion Factory Theater School winter/spring classes cost $120 for 12 weeks.Discounts for siblings and additional classes are available. New this term, are need-based scholarships, funded through a grant from the Millennium Fund for Children.Call (330) 836-1353 to enroll now. 

The Illusion Factory has successfully introduced thousands of school children to the enriching world of the theater.The Illusion Factory is a professional, non-profit, educational theater group that is supported by the Ohio Arts Council and through local grants from area foundations, corporations and individuals who value our mission to bring theater to all children.

FABLES & FAIRY TALESAge 4-6Sat. 9-10 AM
Taught by Donna Bica & Linda Ingram.The class works on stories to act out and present on the final day.

FALLS, FAINTS & FIGHTSAge 7 & upSat. 9-10 AM
Taught by Jim Volkert & Cindy Deli. This “action” class teaches students how to safely fall & faint on stage, as well as simple swordplay.

SHAKESPEARE’S COOLAge 9 & upSat. 10-11 AM
Taught by Bunny Ballance and Jim Volkert.This fun class, a prelude to our Summer Camp, introduces the Bard in an exciting way.Excellent to combine with FALLS, FAINTS, etc…

THEATER SCHOOL MUSICALAge 7 & upSat. 10-11 AM
Taught by Cindy Deli, Shawn Galligan, and Jennifer Bernhardt.Learn popular songs and dances from famous Broadway musicals.

PAGE TO STAGEAge 11-13Sat 11-12 Noon
Taught by Jennifer Bernhardt and Shawn Galligan.The young playwrights work to develop written scenes, then act them out.
