Porthouse Theatre Holds Auditions for
its 2008 Season Four Decades of Dynamite Theatre
Cuyahoga Falls, OH - Porthouse Theatre, Akron-Cleveland area's premiere, professional summer theatre, announces auditions in Cleveland and Kent for its 2008 Season. The season includes the Cole Porter transatlantic farce Anything Goes June 12 28, directed by Porthouse Theatre Artistic Director Terri Kent. Next, we will proudly feature ALICE
a modern adaptation of the Lewis Carroll classic adventure July 3 19, directed by New York City director Matthew Earnest. Finally, we proudly present the Broadway musical classic The Music Man, July 24 August 10, directed by Porthouse Theatre Artistic Director, Terri Kent. All positions are paid and EMC points are available.
Auditions will be held in Kent and in Cleveland. In Cleveland , auditions for all three productions will be held at the Cleveland Play House in Rehearsal Hall C on February 27 from 4 pm 8 pm. The Cleveland Play House is located on Euclid Avenue and East 85th Street .
In Kent , auditions for all three productions will be at Kent State University on Thursday, February 28 from 6 PM to 10 PM and Friday, February 29 from 6 PM to 10 PM . Auditions will be held on the Main Kent State University Campus in the Music & Speech Center located on the corner of Horning & Main.
We will be holding limited child audition timeslots for The Music Man's roles of Amaryllis and Winthrop.
Call backs for both musicals are Saturday, March 1 from 10 a.m. 6 pm and Callbacks for ALICE
are on Sunday, March 2nd from 6 pm 10 pm. Call backs are held in Kent in the Music & Speech Center at Kent State University . You must be able to attend callbacks in order to be considered for a role.
Equity Principal Auditions will be held in New York City on Friday, March 14 from 9:30 a.m. 5:30 p.m. at the AEA Offices. Appointments are required.
Those auditioning for Anything Goes and/or The Music Man should prepare two selections of 16 bars, one ballad and one up-tempo song. Please bring sheet music in the appropriate key for the accompanist provided. Those auditioning for ALICE
should prepare one 2 minute classical monologue; Shakespeare or verse is acceptable. Anyone auditioning for all three productions should prepare two selections of 16 bars and one monologue not to exceed four minutes combined. A cappella singing will not be permitted.
Auditions are by appointment only and can be scheduled after January 8, 2008 by calling Managing Director, Rebecca Gates at 330-672-3884 or emailing her at porthouse at kent.edu .
PLEASE DO NOT SEND RESUMES AND HEADSHOTS WHEN REQUESTING AN AUDITION TIME. Headshots and resumes will be accepted at the audition.
Porthouse Theatre was founded in 1971 and is the premier summer theater in the area. Set on the beautiful grounds of the Blossom Music Center , Porthouse offers audiences the finest in professional summer theater. The comfortable 500-seat, outdoor, covered pavilion theater is located next to the Cuyahoga Valley National Park in Cuyahoga Falls .
