Preschool & Elementary School Classes

 
Play by Play (ages 4-5) For new & returning students.  
It's always fun to play!  Come make new friends and explore all the
worlds of your imagination in this exciting and captivating theatre
class!  Students will work together to develop their very own play by
playing!  Class will culminate in a performance for family and friends
on Sharing Day during the final class.

Komic Kidz (ages 4-5) 
Does your child enjoy puppet shows, cartoon characters and nursery
rhymes?  If so, your child will love this class.  Students will
participate in theatrical games and socially engaging exercises that
encourage their speech and motor skills development.  Through creative
interaction with other children of the same age, communication and
socialization skills are also emphasized.  Mark your calendars - Class
will culminate in a performance for family and friends on Sharing Day
during the final class.

Come with us as we bring fairy tales to life on stage!  Students will
learn basic acting techniques through theatre games and scenes in this

Wee Wizard of Oz (ages 6-9).
Follow the yellow brick road as we join Dorothy, the Tin Man, Scarecrow,
the Lion, Toto, Glinda and the Wicked Witch through several great Oz
adventures.  Through vocal exercises, theatre games, blocking, and
character building, you'll have more heart, brains and courage than you
know what to do with, and your family and friends will shout, "there is
no place like home!" on Sharing Day.

Silly Shenanigans (ages 7-10) 
If you are a Shel Silverstein fan or you just love acting wickedly
silly, this class is for you.  In this theatre class, you will BECOME
the caricatures that Shel creates in his off-the-wall, slyly giddy mind.
Leave your everyday ordinary humdrum lives at home and step into the
skins of wildly imaginative, cunningly clever, vivacious characters.
Character development, monologue preparation and auditioning skills will
be emphasized.  Class will culminate in a performance for family and
friends on Sharing Day.

Advanced Prep for Young Actors (ages 9-11) Instructor permission
required. 
For the experienced acting student who is looking for a challenging and
supportive theatre experience, this class fits the bill!  Expand your
theatre knowledge and skills through scene work, vocal and movement
exercises and improvisation.  Consistent attendance is expected and all
students are required to participate in our Sharing Day for family and
friends on Saturday, May 31.

iTheatre (ages 9-13) 
Love your mp3 player?  Use your favorite music to create a brand new
piece of theatre!  Students will get a chance to write their own script
based on their favorite songs and develop a play to be performed on the
main stage at the end of the session.  Each rehearsal will be divided
between theater games, music selection, improv, script writing and
performance.

Foster's Fun (ages 6-9) 
Want to make new friends while you play with imaginary ones?  Become a
resident of Foster's home for imaginary friends.  We'll play lots of fun
games to get your voice loud and proud and you can pretend to be your
favorite friend, like Wilt, Eduardo, Bloo or Coco.  Your family will be
amazed on Sharing Day!

Improv Mania (ages 12-18) For new & returning students.   
Take an exciting journey into the unknown as we explore the techniques
of theatre improvisation! Through improv scene work and games, students
will learn how to think on their feet and expand their imaginations.
The class will culminate in an improv show for family and friends on
Sharing Day.

Readers Theater:  Theater of Imagination (ages 12-18) 
Learn the basics of Readers Theater and apply to several scripts from
light comedy to the intensity of Poe's "Raven" and "Black Cat."  RT is
an activity in which students, while reading from a script, are able to
tell a story in a most entertaining form. Students will be encouraged to
"ham it up" and use intonation and gestures to their character and their
character's words.  You will love RT!  Come on, try something new!

Still Mad About Acting (ages 12-18) Instructor permission required. 
Especially designed for advanced theatre students, this in-depth study
of acting techniques will challenge you.  Students will learn about the
craft of theatre through vocal and movement exercises, character
development, improvisation and scene study.  Professionalism and
collaboration are stressed in this class for the serious actor.
Consistent attendance is expected and all students are required to
participate in a final showcase for family and friends on Sharing Day on
Saturday, May 31.

Guerilla Movie-Making II (ages 15-18)    
Experience film-making in eight weeks!  Students will assist in shooting
and editing a short film in which they will create, produce and act.
Lighting, sound and special effects will be used.  Students will receive
a copy of the finished product. (Class Ends April 5)
