  Aurora Community Theatre presents:
  Same Time, Next Year

They couldn't have celebrated happier anniversaries
if they were married to each other.

  January 28, 2008

A man and woman meet by chance at a romantic inn over dinner. Although both are married to others, they find themselves in the same bed the next morning questioning how this could have happened. Despite the guilt and confusion over what has happened between them, the connection they share leads to an agreement to meet on the same weekend each year.

These two characters, played by Rick Carter and Denise Bernstein, are seen growing and changing over the years as the audience gets to “check in on them” in 5-year intervals, but always at the same time and place. The result is a completely unique piece of storytelling that is both intimate and expansive as we watch two people adjust to changes in their personal lives and the impact that world events have on them. It’s a journey that blends laughs, pop culture, drama, nostalgia, politics and tears
just like real life.

Denise Bernstein is no stranger to community theater. Some of her favorite shows have been, A Bad Year for Tomatoes and Laughing Stock at CVLT, No Sex Please, We’re British at Solon Center for the Arts, Noises Off, A Perfect Wedding with The Hudson Players. She received regional acting awards from OCTA for her portrayal of ‘Maggie’ in Jake’s Women and ‘Kirsten’ in Days of Wine and Roses. She also received state OCTA awards for playing ‘Aneese’ in Belles and ‘Betsy’ in Messiah on the Frigidaire.

Rick Carter is also a familiar face to local theaters having appeared in Love Sex and IRS in Solon, Caught in the Net at CVLT and By Jeeves at the Beck Center. But he never seems to stay away for very long from the “home field advantage” of the Aurora Community Theater audiences. His interest in performing began when he played Policeman #2 in their production of Oliver! From there he grew into roles that actually had names in farces, dramas, musicals at point in between. Some favorite productions include Over the River and Through the Woods, No Sex Please
We’re British, Moon Over Buffalo, The Night of January 16th and High Spirits.

Don’t miss the opportunity to see these two fine actors bring this classic story to life on the intimate stage of the Aurora Community Theater.
