I was lucky enough to see the dress rehearsal of Aurora Community
Theater's production of Same Time, Next Year last night. As you may
know, it documents an annual weekend meeting between two people over
a 25-year period. The stars of the show were believable at all ages.
Their chemistry was phenomenal. Denise Bernstein was charming,
vivacious, funny, and adorable and Rick Carter was what every girl
wants in a guy: sweet; funny; kind; and sexy.
This is a beautifully-written piece of American theater, well
directed by Barbara Rhoades. And there is a bonus! A wonderful
montage of photos of each era visited, that is shown on a huge screen
to the right of the stage area that sets the time for us and reminds
us of what was going on in those years. This montage (put together by
Rick Carter) is shown during the scene changes, so the time absolutely flies.
This is only on for four nights (Feb 22/23 and Feb 29/Mar 1). So if
you get the chance DO go see it and take a step back in time and
watch two master story tellers perform their magic.
