AUDITIONS - BY APPOINTMENT for

RAGTIME, The Musical

 Weathervane Playhouse will hold AUDITIONS BY APPOINTMENT for Ragtime, The Musical (Novel by E.L. Doctorow, Book by Terrence McNally, Music by Stephen Flaherty and Lyrics by Lynn Ahrens). 14 performances: June 4 - 29, 2008

Sunday, March 16, 2 - 4 p.m.

Wednesday, March 19, 7 - 9 p.m.


Preparation:

Singers prepare 1 verse of a musical theater song in the style of the show

or a selection from the score. Bring sheet music.

Non-Singers prepare a 2-minute monologue.


Cast Requirements:

A wide range of ethnic types are needed for this large cast including

Central European and African American performers.

Also needed: 2 children between 5 - 10 years old.

Terry Burgler (Director) is a professional director, actor, writer and educator. He has performed on the Globe Theatre stage in London, and has acted and directed at numerous regional theatres across the country, including McCarter Theatre, the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival, Stage/West and TheatreVirgina, where he served for 13 seasons and still ranks as the most successful Artistic Director in that theatre's 50-year history. For four years he was Artistic Director at Porthouse Theatre here in Northeast Ohio, presiding over record-breaking seasons that garnered significant critical praise as well. He resigned his position there to be able to pursue his passion for Shakespeare as one of the two founding artistic directors of the Ohio Shakespeare Festival, which performs each summer on the grounds of Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens in Akron. He is a member of the Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers (SSDC) and Actors' Equity Association (AEA).
