GEORGE C. WOLFE’S THE COLORED MUSEUM FEATURED THIS SPRING AT METRO CAMPUS
 
Cleveland – Cuyahoga Community College’s Metropolitan Campus is proud to present “The Colored Museum” under the direction of Jimmie Woody beginning Thursday, March 27, 2008. “The Colored Museum” is a satirical look at what it means to be Black in America today.  Wolfe’s eleven vignettes have delighted and electrified audiences of all colors, confronting stereotypes to expose the facts about being Black.  Written in the mid-80s, “The Colored Museum” presents “exhibits” of history, society and culture.  
 
The premise of “The Colored Museum” involves exhibiting culturally specific characters, situations and behaviors with the goal of having African Americans evaluate them to determine which are assets and which are detrimental to their progress.
 
Wolfe, who won a Tony Award in 1996 for best direction of Savion Glover’s “Bring in Da Noise, Bring in Da Funk,” world-premiered “The Colored Museum” at the Crossroads Theatre in New Brunswick, NJ, in 1986.  That same year, the playwright also received the CBS/Foundation of the Dramatists Guild Playwriting Award for his show.
 
Performances will run: March 27, 28, and 29, April 3, 4 and 5 at 8pm and March 30 and April 6 at 3pm in the Metro Studio Theatre 10.  Secured underground parking is available.  For direct access to the theatre enter lot #5 at E. 30th and Woodland.
 
General admission tickets are $10.00; Students and Senior are $7.00 with valid ID.  Group tickets for 10 or more are $5.00 and must be purchased and paid for in advance.  For more information or to make a reservation please call 216-987-4211.
