Magnificat High School is seeking to fill two positions in the area of performing arts for the 2008-09 school year: Theatre Manager for the Magnificat Center for the Performing Arts and Technical Director for student performing arts productions. Descriptions of both positions, which are part-time, are attached on the following pages. The deadline for both applications is April 15, 2008.
 
Magnificat High School is a Catholic, college-preparatory secondary school for young women located in Rocky River, Ohio. The school was founded in 1955 by the Sisters of the Humility of Mary. Current student enrollment is 870.  Curricular and co-curricular opportunities for drama, choral and instrumental music and dance are available to all students.
 
The Magnificat Center for the Performing Arts opened in October, 2004. The center features a 1000-seat theatre with full stage, orchestra pit and set construction area as well as classroom and practice areas for choral and instrumental music and a green room.

Opening for 2008-2009: Theatre Manager

Qualifications

·	Active commitment to Catholic education for young women and willingness to commit to the mission of Magnificat
·	Collaborative leadership style
·	Ability to work with students, parents, staff and representatives of groups renting facility to improve programs and resolve concerns
·	Knowledge of overall technical operation of high school performing arts facility 
·	Previous technical and/or directing experience – at least three years preferred
·	Bachelor’s degree in appropriate field preferred

Program Information

·	The Magnificat Center for the Performing Arts opened in the fall of 2004. The facility seats 1000 and includes full stage, set construction area, storage areas, orchestra pit and wing space. The Center is available for rental by local area schools, performing arts groups and others. It is the current home of the West Shore Chorale for their Christmas and spring programs.
·	Performing Arts programs at Magnificat include both for-credit and co-curricular offerings in choral and instrumental music, drama and dance.
·	Magnificat students produce a full length musical in the fall and a straight play and a one act play festival in the spring. In addition they participate in the Cleveland Theatre Conference One Act Play Festival and the ESU Shakespeare Competition.

Working Relationships

Responsible to:	Principal

Works with:	Business Manager, Facilities Director, Theatre Artistic Director, Theatre Technical Director, Marketing/Communications Manager, Performing Arts faculty

 

Responsibilities

·	Integrates the mission of Magnificat into relationships and activities associated with the use of Magnificat’s Center for the Performing Arts 
·	Works with school administration and others to develop policies and procedures for use of facility consistent with school mission and philosophy 
·	Serves as school representative in all communications and negotiations for use of Magnificat Center for the Performing Arts
·	Coordinates schedule for use of the Center by both in-house and external groups
·	Coordinates schedule for use of the theatre, Green Room, Band and Choral Rooms by external groups, giving priority to Magnificat curricular and co-curricular activities
·	Works with Facilities Manager, Theatre Technical Director and other appropriate personnel to provide staffing and resources for those using the facility
·	Communicates theatre schedule to interested parties as appropriate -- including but not limited to President, Principal, Facilities Director, Communications/Marketing Director, Ticket and Concessions personnel, Music Department Chairperson, Theatre Artistic and Technical Directors
·	Works with Facilities Director to schedule maintenance, housekeeping and security personnel as needed
·	Ensures that procedures for safety of all occupants are in place and implemented
·	Supervises operations of all systems in auditorium
·	Other duties as assigned by the principal

·	Works with school administration and others to develop policies and procedures for use of facility consistent with school mission and philosophy 
·	Works with Theatre Manager to provide qualified staffing and necessary resources for all rental uses of the Center for the Performing Arts
·	Collaborates with theatre artistic director and other appropriate production staff in planning and production of all school theatrical performances
·	Serves as technical director for all school theatrical performances
·	Oversees all activities related to technical production, including training, scheduling and supervision of student staff
·	Works with theatre artistic director and other production staff in developing budget for theatre production 
·	Communicates with Theatre Manager re. maintenance needs in the Center
·	Ensures that procedures for safety of all occupants are in place and implemented
·	Supervises operations of all theatrical systems in auditorium
·	Other duties as assigned by the principal
