"TWO WEEKS OF BROADWAY" is not a new summer camp! Over 400 campers have
enjoyed this camp in its eight-year existence, and nearly all of them have
returned each summer they are eligible. It is a four-hours-per-day, two-week
camp that will introduce girls to the wonderful world of Broadway Musicals.
Students will have the opportunity to perform solos and group numbers throughout
the camp, with a final performance for family and friends on the final day.
The emphasis will be on singing and dancing (and making many new friends!),
highlighting each girl's individual strengths and talents in a Broadway style
revue. Last year's campers had a blast and say they all plan to return!
This camp is directed by local Equity actor Patrick Janson, who is also the
Chair of the Performing Arts Department at Saint Joseph Academy. A
professional actor for 15 years, he has been extremely fortunate to work with many
great minds in the theatre industry in New York, Chicago and Cleveland,
including composers Cy Coleman and Stephen Schwartz, conductors Jack Lee, Gordon
Harrell and Mary-Mitchell Campbell, and directors Michael Blakemore, Stuart
Ross, Guy Stroman and Jim Corti (all of whom have created Broadway musicals).
This summer, he will appear in the musical "Harold and Maude" at Cain Park in a
cast of five, and will also appear there in a benefit called in "Stars of
Cain Park." He has over a decade of experience working with this age group,
and has former students in Broadway shows, national tours and major college
musical theatre programs.
Cost of the camp is $215 and includes a music book, a DVD of the final
performance and a spiffy T-shirt. For more information please write to Mr. Janson
at _pncjanson at aol.com_ (mailto:pncjanson at aol.com) , or call Maria Mueller at
216-251-4868 x 220 to receive a camp brochure and application, or find the
camp brochure online at _www.sja1890.org_ (http://www.sja1890.org/)
The camp is filling up, so don't delay!
