Beginning Ceramics
*6 Weeks Mondays, June 9th - July 14th 6:30-8:30 p.m. Instructor: Gina

Learn wheel-throwing techniques including wedging, centering, pulling,
trimming, and finishing. Explore handle making
and surface decoration. Tools can be purchased at Pat Catan's Craft Center
for about $10 dollars. *Class fee includes
clay, slab roller, wheels, glazes and firings of several pieces.*

Incorporate two-dimensional drawing and painting skills into
three-dimensional
forms of clay. Create a number of hand-built ceramic objects and then
decorate the
pieces using techniques such as: brush-on glaze, pencil, scrafito
(scratching),
stamping, and printing. This class is designed for both beginners and
advanced. Class
fee includes clay, slab roller, wheels, glazes and firings of several
pieces.**

*Investigate the functional form's evolution throughout ceramic art history.
Designed for intermediate to advanced
potters. Experiment with shaping, decorating and altering simple and

*Discover the amazing array of color that makes up painting. Learn painting
techniques and end with two completed
paintings. Previous painting students will continue to learn about the use
of oil paints and add other elements such as
glazing and texture. This class will focus on individuals needs, helping
students better understand the painting process.
Participants can purchase a Reese brand starter oil painting kit from Pat
Catan's for about $10 prior to class.
