City of Avon Lake to Sponsor
TrueNorth Cultural Arts Fest on June 28

Family Festival Offers Celebration of Music, Theater, Visual Arts and
Dance
Amid Lakefront Setting of Miller Road Park

Nature and the arts will come together in a celebration for all ages on
Saturday, June 28, at Miller Road Park in Avon Lake, from 12 noon to
7:30 p.m. Sponsored by the City of Avon Lake, the TrueNorth Cultural
Arts Fest will feature more than 30 artists demonstrating their crafts
and selling their hand-crafted creations, live performances by many
local recording artists, tours of the Civil War Era Peter Miller House,
and performance artists recreating vignettes of everyday life through a
Civil War living history re-enactment . The day's events will be capped
off with the annual TrueNorth Chorale and Symphony patriotic concert
performed against the backdrop of a Lake Erie sunset.

"The City of Avon Lake is honored to sponsor this wonderful family
cultural event," said Mayor Karl K.C. Zuber. "Avon Lake is blessed with
an abundance of natural beauty, parks and green areas, and a thriving
fine arts community. This event allows us to showcase our many natural
and artistic resources with a day packed full of entertainment for all
ages. Best of all, admission is free, and Avon Lake is located less
than a one-tank trip away from anywhere in Northeast Ohio."
TrueNorth, the Lorain County-based non-profit organization hosting the
event, is devoted to fostering involvement in and appreciation of the
fine arts. According Rick Fortney, Executive Director, the organization
seeks to empower individuals to succeed in the fine arts, and to
encourage appreciation in communities like Avon Lake, where the creative
arts flourish.
"We've brought together some of the best artistic talent in Lorain
County and Northeast Ohio for ArtsFest," he said. "Our visual arts area
will include exhibits and demonstrations of ceramics, jewelry-making,
watercolors, acrylics, fiber art and photography.
"Musical entertainment throughout the day ranges from our own TrueNorth
Patriotic Symphony and Chorale to local musicians and vocalists
performing pop/acoustic, Barbershop, jazz/fusion and several other
styles. When you add the picturesque park setting, meandering walkways
and spectacular views of Lake Erie, it should be a real fest for the
senses."
Kids' Entertainment and Games, Food Specialties, Area Businesses
Showcased
A special "Arts in Action" kids' make-and-take craft area, food
specialties from several of Avon Lake's most popular restaurants and a
children's play area complete with everything from an inflatable "Moon
Bounce" room to putt-putt to carnival games are also planned. Several
Avon Lake-area business and non-profit sponsors will be on hand to
provide information on their services.
