FREE BALLET CLASSES FOR MALE ATHLETES

 

Emmitt Smith, a three-time Super Bowl champion, and Herschel Walker, who is
regarded as one of the top college running backs of all time, are only two
of many athletes known to dance. It's becoming more and more common for
football players and all types of athletes to use dance to cross-train. To
help athletes build total body strength, increase flexibility and perform
better during any type of sports game, the Ohio Youth Ballet is sponsoring
free male ballet classes. 

Boys of all ages are welcome to try one class or come to all from 6:30-7:30
p.m. Tuesdays, July 8, 15, 22, 29 and Aug. 5 at The Turning Pointe School of
Dance, 2387 Locust St. S. Canal Fulton, Ohio. There is no charge. 

Classes are taught by award-winning dancer Kaleb Baker, a former Ohio Youth
Ballet member, who will join Quad City Ballet Company in Rock Island, Ill.
this fall. 

Students are asked to wear athletic attire: T-shirt, sweat pants and thick

BREAK DANCE CLASSES FOR ALL AGES

All ages and levels are welcome to come to break dance classes 7:30-8:15
Tuesdays, July 8, 15, 22, 29 and Aug. 5 at The Turning Pointe School of
Dance, 2387 Locust St. S. Canal Fulton, Ohio. Charge is only $5 per class. 

Classes are taught by one of the only B-boys left still representing from
Ohio's 1980s era. Dre Borders, also known as Dre Live, is co-founder of
Illstyle Rockers. His theatrical credits include "Virtual Reality;" "From 8
Track to CD" (Prestigious Productions); "An Evening of Tap and Hip-Hop
(Cleveland Public Theater); and "Hit the Breaks" (FSB Productions.) Video
credits include Kid Rock's "Welcome to the Party." In 1996, Dre landed the
lead speaking role in the independent feature film "Fishtales." He has
taught classes and workshops on B-boying at Crawford Dance Academy, Canton
Players Guild, and Oberlin College.
