Disclaimer: I'm a friend of & frequent performer with Aimee Collier (so
that's all I'll say about that superb performer ;0})

I had the night off (from Cleveland Shakespeare Festival.nudge, nudge -
wink, wink.) & there were several shows opening tonight. I chose to see
"Blood Brothers" and was amply rewarded. I make no claim to being a
professional reviewer (since we have plenty around here; just my
impressions.

MSS does good work and the cast and staff opened their run with a
valuable addition to summer season in NEOhioPal-land.

The work done on-stage was excellent. The entire ensemble was
captivating from the opening vocal chords. A high level was established
and nurtured to the final blackout. I was particularly fascinated by
the uniform excellence of characterization and physicality across the
cast. Jennifer Myor (Mrs. Johnstone) gave a nicely-nuanced study of a
very human and tragic woman. Molly Richards (Linda) warmly embodied her
range from a 7 year old git to a loving woman ultimately up to her neck
in tragedy and pathos. Daniel and Brian H. Marshall were superb
individually and together. Matthew Patrick (Narrator) kicked ass,
period.

Pierre Brault's staging worked well within the context of the tight
confines of the deck & house they have to do the work. Pacing and scene
changes were brisk (& fairly crisp for opening night). Evie Morris and
the band were tight and didn't overpower the non-wired cast. This show
is very good and will only grow stronger as the run continues. There's a
bunch of good work happening on that stage. This one's worth your time.
