Hear ye, Hear ye! The Royalton Players is proud to announce its first ever
fully teen-run production, *Once Upon a Mattress*. The show is directed by
Royalton Players veterans Domenic Farinelli & Katherine Tekesky. Both were
last seen in the Royalton Players' production of *Little Shop of
Horrors, *portraying
the respective leads, Seymour & Audrey. Both are recent graduates, Domenic
from Padua Franciscan High School and Katherine from North Royalton High
School. Domenic & Katherine are proud to commence what they hope to be a
long-standing tradition of Royalton Players teen productions.

The show itself is a musical retelling of the classic fairy-tale, "The
Princess and the Pea." The story begins with a search for a bride for Prince
Dauntless the Drab, as no one in the kingdom is allowed to marry until
Prince Dauntless shares his wedding bed. However, his mother, Queen
Aggravain, doesn't believe there is a single princess who is worthy of her
son. Sir Harry, upon finding out that his girlfriend, Lady Larken, is
pregnant, heads the search for a suitable princess. He returns with a most
surprising candidate: Princess Winnifred the Woebegone, or "Fred" as she
likes to be called. The Queen immediately disapproves, in contrast to her
smitten son, and decides to test Princess Winnifred in sensitivity. Their
wacky hi-jinks will have you rolling out of your seats with laughter, and
the unforgettable musical numbers will have you wishing to be a part of this
medieval court.

Starring as Princess Winnifred is Krissy Hartman, who last appeared on the
Royalton Players stage as Crystal in *Little Shop of Horrors*. The lovable
Prince Dauntless is portrayed by Royalton Players newcomer, Ryan Benedict,
who last appeared in Padua's production of *The Sound of Music* as
Friedrich. The girlish, delicate, and pregnant Lady Larken is played by Anna
Meyer, also last seen in Padua's *The Sound of Music* as Brigitta. Her brave
and loyal knight, Sir Harry, is portrayed by Chris Marhevka, last seen as
Richard in Padua's *Wanted: One Groom*. Sam Gibbons is the feared and
manipulative Queen Aggravain. Sam has appeared in several productions at
Parma Senior High, the latest being *Oklahoma*. Playing her silent husband
is Bob Turos, a long-time Royalton Players participant. His past credits at
the Royalton Players include Stu in *Bathroom Humor* and Jesus in *Godspell*
.

Also seen at court are Andrew Kruse as the Minstrel, Brittany Paige as the
Jester, and Justin Wendzicki as the Wizard. Rosie Bona, Gaby Halligan, and
Denise Mencini play the lovely Ladies-in-Waiting, while Joe Hayek, Jason
Ivanovic, and Jeremy Stanfield portray their ever-faithful knights. Amanda
Farinelli shines as the Nightingale of Samarkand.

Assistant Director for the production is Christine Mika. Bethany Hipp is the
stage manager, and Sheila Herlihy is her assistant. Musical Director for the
show is Kaitlyn Meme, and Billy Hartman & Joe Mikolajczyk are the rehearsal
pianists. Sophia Viglione is the choreographer, assisted by Kaitlyn
Dessoffy. Technical Director is Dave Winnyk. Mary Clare Meyer is Costume
Mistress, and Props are handled by Erica Holman & Jessica Keppler. Jeri
Brasty is the set designer. Supervising Director for the production is Patty
Devine. Also on crew are Kristen Haupt, Rachel Mika, & Lisy Telep.

The show will be performed on July 25 & 26, and August 1 & 2 at 8:00 p.m. A
special matinee performance will be held on Sunday, July 27, at 2:00 p.m.
