SWINGTIME CANTEEN
Extends Run at Actors' Summit

Following a successful six weeks of performances, Swingtime Canteen will
close this Sunday, July 27th.

David Ritchey, critic for the West Side Leader wrote: "'Swingtime
Canteen' is a pleasant evening in the theater. If you're old enough to
have lived through World War II, you'll find plenty of memories in this
show. If you're too young for '40s music, you need to step back and
enjoy the great music of the war years."

The Play
Set in an antiquated nightclub in London in 1944, the play is a USO
performance by a group of American women. The leader of the group,
Marian Ames, is a movie star who has been put out to pasture by the
moguls of the heartless movie studio. Unfazed by the setback, she
decides to use her new free time to help entertain the troops. Four of
her friends accompany her, and the London show is the first stop on an
international tour of front-line bases.

The canteen show they perform features a medley of songs made famous by
the Andrews Sisters, as well as 26 other standards from the early 40's.
The songs range from the comic ("Don't Fence Me In"), to the sentimental
("I'll Be Seeing You"). Other standards performed by the all female
ensemble include: "Sentimental Journey," "I'll Be With You in Apple
Blossom Time," "A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square," "My Shining
Hour," "How High the Moon," and "Sing, Sing, Sing."

The Cast
MaryJo Alexander, the co-artistic director of Actors' Summit plays the
role of Marian Ames. Her four gal pals from the Hollywood Canteen are:
Rachel Anderson, Laura Cook, Shani Ferry and Lisa Marie Schueller.

An Equity actress, MaryJo has performed locally with Ensemble Theatre,
Porthouse, Cain Park, and Stan Hywet Shakespeare. The other Equity
actress in the cast is Lisa Marie Schueller* who was last seen at
Actors' Summit in Quilters. Lisa earned her BFA in Acting at Kent State
University. Lisa has been seen onstage with Cleveland Stage Company,
Ohio Shakespeare, Porthouse Theatre and Carousel Dinner Theatre, among
others.

Rachel Maria Anderson returns to Actors' Summit for her third role. She
recently graduated from the University of Akron. She has graced local
stages in Sweeney Todd, The Robber Bridegroom, A Christmas Carol, Damn
Yankees, Grease, and Anything Goes.

Shani Ferry is returning for her 7th production at Actor's Summit. She
performed in last season's production of Quilters, and also appeared in
Inside Out, Cotton Patch Gospel, Cricket on the Hearth, Shakespeare
Revue, and They're Playing Our Song.
Laura Cook is the newest member of the Actors' Summit company. She is a
third year MFA Acting candidate at Kent State University where she has
been seen in Wonderful Town, Urinetown, and several others. Her
professional credits include Pump Boys and Dinettes at Porthouse
Theatre, and The Wizard of Oz at the Barn Theatre.
