SRTC travels back to EDEN!!!

SRTC unearths lessons in life, love and understanding in Schwartz and Caird's CHILDREN OF EDEN, August 1 - 3, 2008.

Kicking off their 29th consecutive season and their fourth annual Summer Workshop production, St. Richard Theatre Company presents Stephen Schwartz and John Caird’s CHILDREN OF EDEN, a joyous, inspirational, and humorous look at the age-old conflict between parents and children, August 1 through August 3 at Magnificat Center for Performing Arts in Rocky River.

Loosely based on the Book of Genesis, CHILDREN OF EDEN travels back to The Garden of Eden and to the days of Noah, exploring the relationship between Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel, Noah and his sons, and their quest for knowledge, understanding, and love. Their uncertain lives are intertwined through their interaction and connection with their Heavenly “Father.” Written by Stephen Schwartz (WICKED, Disney’s “Prince of Egypt,” GODPSELL, and PIPPIN), the uplifting music from EDEN features a contemporary score with musical styles ranging from pop, jazz, and gospel. John Caird’s book is witty and humorous, and at times insightfully dark as he explores man’s fall from grace and his discovery of free will.

Under the direction of Nathan A. Lilly, Artistic Director of SRTC, CHILDREN OF EDEN features musical direction by Brad Wyner, choreography by Bryan Homyak, and a cast of 30 talented young individuals, ages seven through 18. The students participated in intense workshops on acting, improvisation, voice, stage movement, and dance, and will apply their newfound skills in their performance.

CHILDREN OF EDEN performs August 1st and 2nd at 7:30 p.m., and August 3rd at 4:00 p.m., at Magnificat Center for the Performing Arts, 20770 Hilliard Boulevard, in Rocky River.

For tickets call (440) 777-6711 or visit SRTC online at www.srtcdrama.org.
