There's one weekend left in Bodwin's production of James Goldman's "The Lion in Winter." I am sending this special note for a number of reasons:

1) It's a great production. While Bodwin has often focused on staged readings, this one is a full production with a modest investment in sets and costumes to provide a more comprehensive production. We think you'll enjoy it.

2) We have a great cast, introducing several young actors from around the state to NE Ohio audiences, including Kaitlyn Whitebread of Ohio University, Sean Manos of University of Toledo, as well as Nick Hasis, Michael Kaplan and Mark Levand of Notre Dame College. For the new talent, this is a great showcase. The young cast supplement strong performances from Peter and Sandra Manos.

3) It's a show you'd be unlikely to see elsewhere. It's a clever, accurate, fictionalized view of history. I think you'll enjoy it immensely.

Here are some additional details:

THE LION IN WINTER, James Goldman's witty and fiery comic drama pits the world's first Power Couple Henry II of England and his estranged Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine against each other. Throw in their ambitious, rebellious sons Richard the Lion Hearted, King John and Geoffrey of Brittany, then add Lady Alyss of Vexin and her little brother Philip II Augustus of France and you have the ultimate historical dysfunctional family. Nothing like political family quarrels to warm us up for the Presidential campaign season.

The final performances, offered at no cost, are:

Friday, August 8th at 8:00 PM
Saturday, August 9th at 8:00 PM
Sunday, August 10th at 2:00 PM

Performances are at Notre Dame College Great Room, 3rd floor of the Administration Building 4545 College Rd. South Euclid (North of Cedar near South Green Rd.). The play is directed by Peter Manos, with an introduction by Kevin Cronin.

And you think politics is dysfunctional now?!!
