Hello Everyone!

I had the honor of seeing the Ohio Premiere of RENT School Edition last night.  If you did not get a chance to see it, you really missed out!!  Jamie Koeth did an incredible job directing and bringing this beautiful story to life in only 2 weeks!!!  Ben Needham put out another great set which created the mood as you walked into the theatre.  Megan Ogl supplied some really wonderful costumes...favorites (of course) were Angel's and Mimi's!  Sean Szaller and the orchestra did a fantastic job with all the music and keeping things in balance with the help of Krista Hiner.  Toni Cervino's choreography was very effective.

The cast functioned well as an ensemble and did an awesome job considering they were only together for 2 weeks!!  Ben Fankhauser brought sincerity to Mark Cohen.  His vocals were spot on and his mannerisms perfect for this role.  Corey Cott did equally well in his role as Roger Davis.  Alyssa Hostetler was free and fun enough to pull off Maureen Johnson with some flair and Mandy Goldman had the amazing vocals required for Joanne.  Will Sanborn's attitude and Emma Schreibman's moves added some great moments to the show.  The ensemble roles were also very good...always in character, great voices and lots of comedic moments, the voice mail bits were priceless!!

My favorites in the show...though all did fantastic...were Max Chernin as Tom Collins and of course, Ben Martin as Angel Schunard!!  Max had these amazing vocals and sensitivity which brought Collins to life.  His relationship with Angel was very believable and his pain very real...I don't think there was a dry eye in the house!!  What can you say about Ben Martin...if you have not seen any of his performances you really missed out on some brilliant moments on stage.  He is a truly gifted actor.  What a delight to watch him transform from Mercutio in Romeo & Juliet at FPAC to Angel.  Angel is the heartbeat of this show and Ben was absolutely terrific in this role.  He had the moves, the look, the mannerisms, and the heart to make you fall in love with Angel and bring the house to tears.  Kudos to Max and Ben for the courage  to put it all out there!

Again, Congratulations to this amazing cast and crew...what an awesome premiere!!!
