BEST OF BROADWAY TO OPEN ON CASSIDY THEATRE’S COX STAGE


Parma Hts. – Cassidy Theatre, Inc. announces the opening of “Best of  
Broadway”, a bi-annual musical fundraiser for the Cassidy Theatre.   
The show will run at 8 p.m. Friday Aug. 15, 8 p.m. Saturday Aug. 16  
and at 3 p.m. Sunday Aug. 17 at the Cassidy Theatre, 6200 Pearl Rd.  
Parma Hts.  Tickets are $20 and can be purchased by calling the  
Cassidy box office at (440) 842-4600.
The production is Directed by Heidi Boone, with Musical Direction by  
Bob Day.

Best of Broadway was originally conceived by Boone along with Berea  
Summer Theatre Founder Bill Allman as a fundraiser for a Baldwin- 
Wallace College scholarship fund.  After BST closed, the Best of  
Broadway tradition continued at the Cassidy where it has been produced  
every two years ever since as a youth theatre benefit. Proceeds from  
Best of Broadway will now benefit the Cassidy Theatre, Inc., the non- 
profit theatre company which became newly independent from the City of  
Parma Heights this year.

The show is made up of area performers of all types and ages,  
professional and non-professional and features musical selections from  
current Broadway hits as well as classic favorites from past Broadway  
shows.  “This year is going to be one of the funniest years with the  
show” says Boone, who is often open to letting cast members audition  
certain songs for her.  “For some reason, this year the cast all got  
together and kept picking the most hilarious numbers from the shows  
(they come from)”.   Other highlights will include selections from  
current Tony Award-winning shows like Spring Awakening and Curtains.   
Favorite area performers Monica Olejko and Lora Workman will also  
recreate part of their recent hit cabaret from the Cleveland Cabaret  
Project.  Performers in this year’s Best of Broadway also include  
Carlos Cruz, Marthan Brown, Carol Broquet, Molly Clay, Sarah Biondo,  
Mary Prucha, Georgia Muttillo, Sarah Clare, Desiree Johnson, John  
Karlock, Lou Petrucci, Bob Zombar, Nancy Tabar, Emily Tabar, Rich  
Moore, Luke Kollin, Clint Condon, Vince Flores,Eric Bartkowski, Brad  
Andersen, Terry Dunn, Dylan Dwyer, Tina Stumpf, Kelly Rienerth, Scott  
Maynard and Marina Richley.

Cassidy Theatre is supported by Cox Communications.  The Best of  
Broadway is generously funded by the Cuyahoga County residents through  
Cuyahoga Arts and Culture.
