[NEohioPAL] News: OCAGC named host chapter for the APA Entrepreneur Empowerment Training Scholarship program

OCA Greater Cleveland Chapter (OCAGC) has been named the host chapter for
the APA Entrepreneur Empowerment Training Scholarship program for Spring of
2009 brining national attention to Cleveland.

 

OCAGC will work with the Association of Women's Business Centers' member in
Cleveland to publicize the program to OCA national members and other members
of the APA community in the US.

 

The APA Entrepreneur Empowerment Training Scholarship provides a limited
number of full scholarships to APA entrepreneurs to attend business start-up
and development programs. The Scholarship is designed for women and men who
want to start a business or expand an existing small business.

 

Funding for the Scholarship is provided by State FarmR. The business
development courses are conducted by members of the Association of Women's
Business Centers (AWBC). More information and application forms will be
available soon.

 

Scholarship awardees are selected through an application process. Awardees
are chosen by representatives from AWBC, the OCA National Center, State
Farm, and the OCA Cleveland Chapter. Awardees are chosen on the strength of
their application, but priority will be given to OCA members in cases where
two applicants have comparable applications. Non-OCA member awardees will
receive a year-long OCA membership.

 

Scholarship awardees will participate in intensive courses that run on a
weekly basis for 2-3 months each. Participants are expected to be present
and prepared for each session. 

 

Scholarship participants learn: 

What it takes to be a successful entrepreneur

How to develop and test a business concept or expansion plan

How to select the best business entry or growth option

How to organize, manage, and grow a business

How to research and market a business

Financial literacy for entrepreneurs and small business owners

How to find funding for a start-up or business development
